Hi I'm Edgar Rile de la Gente

I'm a university instructor. I love going for long walks and doing groceries with my wife, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Other than being a university instructor, I have served in various church callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. At present, I am serving as one of the bishops of the church in the Philippines.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 18, I had been meeting Mormon missionaries, but I was never that committed because I doubted Joseph Smith - his being a prophet. It was in February 1991 when I had the chance to meet with the missionaries again. They taught and challenged me that if I study the Book of Mormon (another testament of Jesus Christ) I will find out for myself that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God and that he was made instrument in restoring the true Church of Christ in our time. For the very first time in my life, I recognized the promptings of the Holy Ghost telling me that the Book of Mormon was true, that Joseph Smith was a true prophet, and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is led by a true prophet of God. And Jesus Christ is the head of the Church. On February 24, 1991 I joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (one of the greatest events in my life). After a year, I served a full-time mission. As a young missionary, my testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, the Church, the Prophet Joseph Smith and the living prophets had been strengthened. I know that God (our loving Father in heaven) has again opened the windows of heaven because He loves all of us. He wants us to gain eternal life, lasting peace, and true happiness through Christ.

How I live my faith

It has always been fulfilling whenever I'm blessed with a chance to inspire someone's life, ease someone's burden, and share the truthfulness of the restored Gospel of Christ with anyone. Living the principles of the Gospel brings lasting peace and happiness in my life.
