Hi I'm Gus Silva

I grew up all over the world. I am an academic advisor at a top college. I am a Mormon

About Me

I have been raised in the church but my parents joined when they were in their teens. My parents are from Mexico but I was raised all over the world since my father was in the U.S. Air Force. I am a veteran like my father and have 5 children and 3 grandchildren. I have been married to my sweetheart for the last 31 years. I enjoy sports and music and am an avid chess player.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was raised in the church my parents were wise enough to understand that I needed to be converted and gain my own testimony of the Gospel. At 8 years old I prayed about the things that I had been taught because I needed to know for myself that the decision I was about to make was the correct one. As I prayed, with the most sincere desire to know the truth, a wonderful warm and comforting feeling came upon me. I knew that my Heavenly Father had answered my prayer. I know that the church and its teachings are true. I have felt the Saviors hand in my life and know that my Heavenly Father cares for me and my family thru the blessings that we have received. I know that you can receive this same confirmation as you ask in humble prayer to know the truth.

How I live my faith

I am a Bishop in the church. That means that I am in charge of a local congregation. In the church we are a lay ministry we are not paid but serve others as the Savior has asked all of us to serve. I take care of the members spiritual, emotional, and physical needs to assure that they are taught the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
