Hi I'm Pat

Whether it's skateboarding, basketball, or hiking in the mountains, I love being active and enjoying life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love a good adventure. I see life as full of adventures that come in different shapes and sizes. I think relationships with friends and family can also be adventures in many ways. From hiking the mountains of New Zealand, to learning Spanish, I've loved my adventures in these 24 years of life. Although they are unpredictable and ever-changing, the one thing that has never changed and will always remain constant for me has been the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I fell in love with skateboarding when I started at age twelve. I never thought that one day I'd be an amateur rider for Mountain Dew. But at age 19, I chose to serve as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The next two years of my life were spent teaching the restored Gospel to the Hispanic people in North Carolina, where I made unforgettable memories and met some amazing people. One of the things I miss most about my mission was the incredible Latin food I got to eat! I am entering my Senior year of college, studying Spanish and Business Management. I like to spend my spare time playing sports, hiking in the mountains, or looking for an adventure with friends. I especially love boating and camping, and just being outdoors. I enjoy life, and I am Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe in Christ because I have found great hope and joy as I've applied His teachings and put them to the test. Through my own trials and weaknesses, the Savior's Gospel has given me the confidence and strength to move forward. I've felt God's love in so many ways, especially as I've sought Him out. Why am I Mormon? My family has always been Mormon, and I grew up believing it was true. But as a teenager I came to a point where I needed to know for myself. So, I am still Mormon because I put in the work to find out if it's all true. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God because I've read it and I've prayed with real intent to know if it is truly another testament of Jesus Christ. The Spirit has testified to me time and time again of its truth. In a simple answer, I am Mormon because I can see the Savior's hand in this great work. I know that the Church is fulfilling the purposes of God, and I'm excited to be a part of it. Finally, my favorite thing about the Church is that it gives the members the opportunity to serve other people. At the end of the day, loving and serving others is what it's all about.

How I live my faith

The Savior taught, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." I have been blessed with many great "lights" in my life, and I try to let my "light" shine for others as well. The best way for me to do this is to live the principles of the Gospel and look for opportunities to lift and serve the people around me. I have found that selflessly serving others is a quick way to see a little more through God's eyes, and to feel of His love for each of us. I live my faith by sharing the light I've been given when I can, and by keeping my covenants from baptism and in the Temple. Of course I'm not perfect, but I find strength despite my weaknesses as I seek to become a little more like Jesus Christ each day.
