Hi I'm Forrest Hangen

I'm from Massachusetts. I love to run. I love being Mormon! I am serving as full-time missionary in Kyiv, Ukraine!

About Me

I am the second oldest of four children. I have lived my entire life in Massachusetts. My father is an Orthopedic Surgeon and my mother is a History Professor. My family is a lot of fun and I have certainly come to realize that families are so important to our time on the earth. I have been a runner all my life, so yes, I get "Run Forrest Run!" a lot! I love the feeling of running, it is a freeing feeling of being able to go however fast and far you want. I know that Heavenly Father has given us bodies so that we can have joy, and running is one way I have always been able to find joy in this life. I love to travel and have been to many parts of the world where my dad does volunteer health work. It is amazing to see that no matter where you go there are kind and caring people who will take you in and give of whatever they have, no matter how small. During high school I was a volunteer EMT. I just graduated high school and will be taking 2 years to serve a mission in the Ukraine Kyiv Mission! I am so excited to be serving a mission and to be a representative of Jesus Christ! After my mission I will attend the University of Rochester.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are members of the church, and so I have grown up with it all my life. However, I consider myself a convert. There came a point in my life where I had to decide if this church was really something I believed in and something I could be a part of. I saw the happiness it brought others and I wanted to experience that for myself. I really prayed about it and studied the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon. Eventually, I received my answer, that it is true! Since that time I have been so much happier and blessed by my Father in Heaven. I now know the great joys and feelings of peace that come through living the gospel of Jesus Christ. This joy is unlike any other, and I always want to live so that I can feel the happiness the gospel brings! I know that Jesus Christ lives and is our Savior and Redeemer. I know that through Him we are able to return to live with our Heavenly Father. I am eternally thankful for His Atonement and His example. I know Heavenly Father loves us and has given us this life to grow, to learn, and to be tested. I know that obedience brings blessings, and that when I come closer to Jesus Christ by following His example, He comes closer to me by allowing me to have the Holy Ghost to be with me and guide me. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true and that it is Christ's church on the earth today! I am a Mormon because I know it is true and that it makes me happy!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following Jesus Christ. I try to do what he would do if he were in my place. My relationship with Him and with God is very important to me. I start and end each day with a prayer. I know that each on of my prayers are heard by a loving Father in Heaven. I know that He answers my prayers. The answers don't always come in the way or time I expect, but they always come! Each day we are given time to spend on whatever we want. I have found that when I spend as much time as possible on seeking out the good things of this world my life is so much better and full of joy! I attend church every Sunday. I love going to church because it allows me to renew my baptismal covenants by taking the sacrament. I also love hearing the words and feeling the power of the people who speak in Sacrament meeting and the other classes. In my daily life I try to be an example of a disciple of Christ in all that I do, I'm not perfect, but I try! The spirit I feel each Sunday is not unique to Sunday. I know that I can feel the spirit and feel the peace and joy of hearing the gospel as I read the scriptures each day and when I serve my fellow men. All my time now is spent being a representative of Jesus Christ as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is amazing and I love the spirit and joy that comes when you share the message of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ with others. I know that there is eternal happiness that only comes when we follow Jesus Christ.
