Hi I'm Michael Larson

I am from Idaho. I have a passion for basketball. I love learning how everything works. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have attended one year of college, where I plan to major in mechanical engineering. My love of learning and technology expanded drastically in those months, and I look forward to returning after an honorable mission. I am deeply fascinated by all the sciences, and my particular interest is geared toward mechanical things. My dream is to invent something, and I believe that staying firm in my faith is just as or more important as my education if I hope to attain that goal. In addition to learning, I am most passionate about sports, and specifically basketball. I played in high school, and I continue to look for every opportunity to play. I believe there are lessons to be learned in dedicating oneself to a sport that can be learned in few other settings, particularly in a team sport. Thus, my love for basketball not only includes the technical aspects involved, but also the teamwork and unity that ultimately lead to success.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised as a Mormon by good parents. However, my decision to continue to exercise my faith is independent of my upbringing. My testimony has grown not by one life-changing event, but by many smaller, less dramatic experiences. As I have studied the Book of Mormon on my own, and in my experience with prayer and pondering, I have reached the point where my testimony is what defines me. I have absolutely no doubt that the Book of Mormon is true, that it teaches correct and eternal principles, and that consistent reading from it can bring happiness and peace in everyday life. Because of my firm testimony of the Book of Mormon, I know that Joseph Smith was called as a prophet of God, and that the fullness of the gospel which was established by Jesus Christ has been restored to the Earth. I know that we have a living prophet, and that we will continue to have a living prophet to help guide us. I know that Jesus Christ suffered for the sins of the world so that we might have the opportunity to be free from our own sins. I know this because I have experienced a very real change in my mind and heart as I have determined to keep the commandments and turn away from sin. My faith influences everything I do, every decision I make, and everything I say.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This is something I have anticipated my entire life, and I know that by the end of my two-year service I will have done some of the most fulfilling and productive work anybody can do. The work is undoubtedly difficult, but completely satisfying in every way. My personal testimony has everything to do with my attitude about the work, and how much happiness I find.
