Hi I'm Shannon Gray

I was born and raised in sunny St. Augustine FL. I love spending time with my family and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 25 and love spending time with my husband. We have been married almost 4 years now and I can't wait to start a family with him. I'm very close to my family and love spending time with them as well playing board games or watching the Classics:) Not currently enrolled in school, but I'll be starting soon and can't narrow down what I want to be. Therapist,Egyptologist, or Business Degree. Most importantly though, I want to be a great mother that can show her children all that this life has to offer and to teach them all that I have gained from not only this life thus far, but from this amazing religion.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in the gospel tends to make you take things for granted.. at least that is my story. I never did anything outrageous growing up, but it wasn't until I started studying the scriptures more on my own and prayed without using the same few sentences over and over again that I started realizing how blessed I really was. I never had a huge "Conversion" moment... but I realized it was a collection of minutes. In high school I explained to a friend that we believe that there are different degrees of glory. After you die, you will be judged according to your works here on earth. I asked her to think of 3 different people getting ready to take a test. The first one has studied ever since they found out about the test. The second, studied, but only for a few minutes before the test began while the third, copied everything down and used a cheat sheet. How fair would it be for all of them to get the same grade. We have a just God. It wouldn't make sense of there was just a heaven and hell. I love that this church encourages you to read the Book of Mormon for yourself. I love that it is a record of what was going on here in the Americas while the Bible focuses on creation and the middle east. I love that we have a living prophet that is guided by Heavenly Father to let us know he still loves us and cares about us and gives us counsel. I love that my marriage isn't until death do you part. That I will be with my wonderful husband in the life to come. I love that the foundation of this church is Christs teachings. That we can study, and learn more about him so we can in turn be like him and return to live with him someday. I hope I can be a light unto the world and set a good example to others of what we stand for. For all of the reasons listed above, and many more is why I am and always will be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I was recently given the calling to teach Songs to children ages 3 - 12. At first, I thought this was a small calling that I couldn't really gain anything from. As I focused on the songs more to help the children understand the messages behind them (Love One Another, Choosing the Right, learning about the example Christ set for us) I realize I have much to gain from it! I am constantly reminded that we are all Heavenly Fathers children and he does love us. I try to show his love by helping these children realize this. That although they may have hard times be it now or in the future, they always have someone that they can turn to that loves them more than they can comprehend. He will always be there for them and all of us. That is how I live my faith.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Shannon Gray
We dress in our "Sunday best" as far as church is concerned. We celebrate holidays just like everyone else, but mainly focus on Easter and Christmas. These are the two most important holidays due to the significance of the life and death of Christ. Show more Show less
