Hi I'm Abri

I am a Mormon. I am a full time wife and mother of one baby. I work as a hair stylist for special events part time.

About Me

I am a full time wife, mother and homemaker. I love it! Being at home and creating a warm environment for my family suits me well. I love to cook and feel that I'm quite creative when it comes to food and a tight budget. I also love all types of crafts, color and creating. I work part time as a hair stylist for special events, such as weddings and engagement parties. I love my job! It's great to work with so many brides at such an exciting time in their lives. I also enjoy cutting and coloring hair as well, hair being an outlet for my crafty side. It's a perfect job because it doesn't take me away from my daughter too often. My daughter and my husband are my true loves. I love raising my daughter, watching her grow and develop and being there for her with anything she needs. I also love and look forward to my date nights with my husband. We LOVE to go out to eat and try new food, we also love to go to the movies or be out in nature. In my free time during the day I work on my college courses. I am studying Psychology and Family Functioning/Relationship courses, I have two years left at the University of Phoenix. And I just recently started piano lessons! Never too late to start anything right?? I'm loving it! I love learning new things through new hobbies or books. I am very happy with my life.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 17 years old I found myself in a time of despair, hurt and confusion. I knew nothing else of what to do other than to pray. I still remember where I was kneeling in my room when I told my Heavenly Father that I could not find the words to speak of what I was feeling, so I asked him to just know what I was feeling. I asked for forgiveness of my troubles and immediately I heard so clearly the words in my mind, "I already have." I knew it was God speaking to me. I felt so close to him that I thought when I open my eyes he would be standing right next to me. Of course his physical body wasn't but the presence of his spirit stayed with me and I have never even considered denying that he knows me as an individual person. I never did turn back to my old ways after that prayer, God showed himself to me in a way my heart would never let go. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, because it is the least I can do to show my Heavenly Father that I recognize all that he has done for me. I have felt God with me all throughout my life since that moment. He guided me through my career choice, through my continuance in education, my dating life, to my great husband and now to motherhood. I feel his presence in all that I do and I know that he is guiding me to all that I need to achieve in my life because I am faithful of Him. I know that God and Jesus Christ live, I will never change my mind of knowing that. I live the way that I do because I know what I know. Christ lives, the atonement is real, change is real, my prayers are heard. I know that I once walked with God and there is a part in my heart that carries these precious memories. I know the warm and secure feelings I feel in my heart are the promptings reminding me that I am right where I should be in my life, a member of this restored gospel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by living the values of my heart. I remember God in everything I do. There is not a moment where something good happens that I don't recognize God's part in the blessing of it. From big things such as financial situations, to smaller moments like beautiful weather, my husband cooking dinner, or my daughter's precious smile. I feel that I am patient with others because I understand that we all have things that we are going through. I try to be a helping hand wherever I can be and find joy in serving others. I attend church almost every Sunday to show God my commitment to him and his gospel. I feel that attending church each week shows God that we are setting time aside to remember him, and that we are curious to learn more of what he has to teach us. I also begin and end each day with prayer, sometimes they are short but I know that I need God's strength with me each day to live up to my fullest potential. I also read the scriptures each day. I do this so that my testimony can be reaffirmed or added onto with the topics I study each morning. It is important to me to live a Christ like life as much as possible. I use clean speech, I engage in wholesome and clean activities and entertainment such as movies and music. I also dress modestly as an outward expression of my inward commitment of who I know I am and what I stand for. I am a daughter of God and in knowing this I have a standard to abide by.

What is being a Mormon like?

Abri
Being a Mormon is having answers to hard questions. Such as understanding where we came from before this life, why were are here on this earth, and what we can expect in the life to come. This brings joy into my life because I know the "why" in my life. Being a Mormon I have regular obligations in my life as a wife and mother. Our bills have to be paid on time, the grocery shopping has to get done, and we look forward to a much needed family vacation. But I feel happiness that I never felt before I committed to the church. It's a happiness for the simple things in life because I understand the bigger picture of what God's plan is for all of us here on this earth. Show more Show less
