Hi I'm Lauren

I am a full-time missionary in Peru. Off the mission, I am a student, artist, and aspiring businesswoman. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Currently I am on an 18-month mission in Peru, where I get to serve others and bring them the knowledge of Christ's teachings and God's plan for His children. In addition, I am a college student at Brigham Young University, where I am looking to study business. I am enjoying meeting lots of new people, gaining new experiences, and having independence. I love my family and friends, and am overjoyed when people ask me about my religion!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes me happy. I have been raised a Mormon, like many others, but just as those who come to the gospel later in life, I was converted. It wasn't anything revolutionary, or something that happened overnight, but living the standards of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has truly blessed me. Every time I attend church meetings on Sundays, my heart is filled with peace and joy. Everything that I am taught rings with truth. I have read the Book of Mormon and believe it to be revelation from God. I love my Heavenly Father and know that He loves me, and wants the very best for me. I know that I can repent of my sins, and as long as I do my best to do God's will, He will bless me. When I feel the Spirit confirming these truths to me, I feel almost as if I will burst from joy and excitement! I love my religion and want everyone to feel as blessed and loved by their Heavenly Father as I do.

How I live my faith

Right now I am serving as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Trujillo, Peru. As a missionary I am able to share my faith with others and help them have the light of Christ in their lives.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

The short answer is no--Mormons are not not all required to serve missions. However, for young adult men who are able to serve missions, it is considered a responsibility and a duty. They serve for 2 years, and typically leave at the age of 18 or 19. Young adult women (such as myself) have no obligation to serve, but are gladly taken if they have the desire to serve. Women serve for a period of 18 months. Retired couples and older single sisters also have the opportunity to serve missions, should they choose to do so. Missionaries serve because they love their Lord and want to share His teachings around the world. Show more Show less
