Hi I'm McKenzie

I was a ballerina for 15 years. I'm currently in Nursing School. I just married my best friend. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a newlywed. I'm desperately trying to learn how to cook something other than macaroni and cheese. I just started Nursing School, so I'm keeping pretty busy. I also work as a hostess. In the little free time that I have, I love to paint, dance, and hang out at home with my little dog and my husband.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised going to a Baptist mega-church. To say that the Mormon church is a little bit of a different experience is an understatement... However, joining the church has been the best decision I've ever made. After I had been dating this boy for a little while, he invited me to go to church with him one Sunday. I had no idea what the Mormon church was about! I went with him that first Sunday and was completely overwhelmed by the love from everyone there and the immense Spirit that I felt while I was there. After a few months of meeting with the missionaries and praying to my Heavenly Father about if the church, I knew that it was true! I knew that I wanted to be baptized into the Mormon church and I'm so glad that I did. Every day that I wake up, I feel the Holy Spirit with me. Through the trials that I have faced in my life- those that I never thought I would be able to get through- I was able to persevere and even become stronger than I was. After dating that same boy for about two years, I was able to be sealed to him for time and all eternity in the temple. After joining the church, I have had some incredible experiences, but that eternal commitment that I made with my Heavenly Father and my husband was, by far, the most wonderful thing I've ever experienced. I'm so thankful for my Heavenly Father, for the Restored Gospel, for Joseph Smith and our current Prophet and church leaders, and for the beautiful gift that is eternal families.

How I live my faith

I absolutely love getting up and going to church every Sunday morning. I love to be in such a close-knit church where everyone helps everyone out, whether it's helping to plan a wedding, or bringing meals to the sick, or throwing showers and parties for other members, it is literally one big family. In January, I was called to be the Young Women's Secretary and I'm loving every minute of getting to work with the awesome girls that are in my ward.
