Hi I'm McKell Anderson

I'm a piano teacher, I'm a runner, I'm a college student, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest of six children. My dad grew up on a farm in central Utah, and my mom came from the cold plains of Alberta, Canada. I grew up in southern valleys of Idaho. My childhood was filled with playing basketball with my whole family early every morning before school, riding bikes with my siblings up and down the streets of our tiny hometown of 300 people, going to church every Sunday, and helping our elderly neighbors pull weeds. I have a passion for music. My siblings claim that I used my piano practicing after dinner to avoid dishes, and this might be slightly true :). I have become very serious in my study of the piano as I study under the professors here at BYU. I also find joy in teaching piano on the side. I joined the cross country team in high school and have been an avid runner ever since. I recently finished my second half marathon and first full marathon and look forward to many more! I grew up watching my siblings go to college, get married, and start their own families which helped me set my own goals to do the same. I am now a college student studying business, and I look forward to having my own family and teaching my children, integrity, responsibility, and love of God and country. I'm a little sister, daughter, athlete, musician, college student, and I'm a mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I have diligently studied, prayed, and received confirmation from the spirit that there is a purpose to life, and a God that cares for each of his children. I have come to know that Christ is his son who came to earth and died for us. I know that following his example is the way to gain true joy in this life and eternal salvation in the life to come. Through application of what I have learned as I have studied Christ's teachings, my life has been more full and I have felt the promised joy. Through Christ's atonement I have repented of my sins and have the opportunity to partake of it's promised blessings daily. Through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints the power of God has been restored to the earth through which I have and will continue to make covenants with God that help me grow closer to him and become the best person that he would have me be. I am a Mormon because I can find comfort, forgiveness, and joy in Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through striving daily to become closer to Christ. I do this through daily personal study of Christ's words in the scriptures and his revealed modern revelation. It is through this study that I am coming to know Christ and how I can become more like him. I constantly look for opportunities to serve and help others in their own journeys towards returning to live with God. It is in the little things like a passing smile or plate of cookies, that Christ is pleased. I love participating in service clubs on my college campus that help me have a larger impact on the world. Each week I visit an assisted living center and play music for the elderly residents. Here is where I feel God's love and peace and demonstrate my faith. Another place I show my faith and feel God's love is in his holy temple. Performing ordinances for those who cannot do it themselves provides me an opportunity to be close to God and serve others. I have never felt as happy as I feel when I am in the temple. I live my faith through study, service, and sacrifice. I seek to show love to those around me and exemplify the teachings of Christ as I learn them through the scriptures and the teachings of modern day prophets.
