Hi I'm Skye

I am an academic nerd. I am a gamer. I love cooking and the chemistry involved with it. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am 23 years old and am in the MTC preparing for my mission to go to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. It is exciting and terrifying because languages are hard, but when we stretch ourselves we invite the Spirit to support us in our righteous actions. I have already strengthened my relationship with God and the Spirit because I am constantly in a place of emotional discomfort when I try to do all these things on my own. I am used to feeling very self-reliant, and the only way I can feel prepared is by inviting the Spirit to support me. As for school, I have been on and off with college for the last five years, and, after some searching, I have mixed two of my favorite subjects to find a course of study that excites me: Food Science. I recently obtained a general Associate's of Science degree, and when I return in 18 months, I will continue on with a Bachelor's and a Master's degree. I love video games. I grew up with one brother that was an avid gamer, and he passed it to me. I played my first game on the Super Nintendo, and it was The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. I wasn't as fanatic as he was, but I never could keep a controller out of my hands for long.

Why I am a Mormon

I knew from a young age that Heavenly Father existed and loved me. I couldn't have been more than ten when I prayed and felt Him close to my heart; however, much of the rest of my conversion didn't occur until late in my teens. Life got progressively more difficult, and eventually I began to feel like it was too much to handle. I messed up, and broke down on some of my ideals. Friends and leaders helped me to be honest with myself and find humility. They also helped me to find the faith that Christ can do what he says he can. He healed me. I was able to bring my actions back in line with my ideals, rather than justify and pull my ideals down to meet my actions. Every time things get harder Christ strengthens me and I feel more capable of handling what is placed in front of me. I have a deep testimony of the Atonement, and I love my Savior.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by supporting those around me. I am constantly around others that I can invite to come unto Christ more fully. Even in the MTC with missionaries that all want to go out and help others find the sweet joy that comes from the gospel, I have the opportunity to invite them to come closer to Christ. Even the most spiritual among us can strengthen their understanding of Christ and his Atonement.
