Hi I'm Jake

I grew up in Gilbert, Arizona.I am an Economics major, I enjoy sports, especially sports in the water, and I'm a mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the heat of Arizona and am now currently getting a taste of the cold, weather that has been unknown to me as I am Idaho. I enjoy playing every sport. I have been succesful on competetive swimming and wrestling teams. I served a two-year mission for the LDS church in Mexico City where I learned to speak spanish and grew in many diverse ways. I recently was married to my best friend Alix for eternity. I love her and I am grateful that we will always be together. I plan on attending law school to be able to support my future family.

Why I am a Mormon

I have descendants on my father's side and my mother's side who have been members of the LDS church since its beginings. I was born into the church and have always gone to my weekly church meetings. As I grew older I started to ask why I was doing the things that I was doing. I only thought that it was the right thing to do because it had been what my parents had always taught me. "Did Jesus Christ really pay the price for my forever happiness? If I do the things that I have always learned from Christ's church, would that really make a difference?" On one particular church activity where we reinacted the journey that the mormon pioneers made across the Great Plains, I finally decided that I needed to know for myself. I had been taught that I could pray and ask my Heavenly Father and that he would let me know if it was true or not. I did so when I had a couple of hours of alone time. I felt an overwhleming peace come over me. I knew that it was Heavenly Father telling me that everything that I had been taught was true. It is a feeling that all are able to feel if they just ask sincerely and with faith. What a blessing it was and continues to be that knowledge. I know what I need to do to be happy forever because our Heavely Father let me know it. I have always tried really hard to keep doing what the Lord would have me do. I repent when I fail, and rejoice when I am forgiven. I feel great happiness as I serve those who are in need. Jesus Christ and his gospel are the source of all of my happiness. I want all to feel that happiness as well.

How I live my faith

I have served as a sunday school teacher in a class called "Gospel Doctrines". I have also helped teach a group of nine year old children vital principles that will help them grow closer to Jesus Christ. I gave two years of my life to Jesus Christ and served a mission in Mexico City. My goal was to help everybody that I came into contact with come unto Christ. As I did this, I personally grew close to him as well. I felt his love for me and a joy that all are able to feel if they do what he would have them do. I recently was married to a wonderful girl for eternity. As long as we follow Christ we will always be together, even after death. It is a blessing to us to know that the family that we created that day will never end. We try our best everyday to follow Christ by reading the scriptures and praying together. We also actively serve in the church in our local area.
