Hi I'm Kalli

Currently serving as a missionary in the Czech/Slovak mission, speaking Slovak! I love food, music, and poetry. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been a member of the LDS church since I was born. I just finished my first year as a college student! I'm currently a sister missionary! I received my mission call to the Czech-Slovak mission in March, and will leave to Slovakia in October. I love the arts--music, design, sculptures, anything! I played piano for 10 years and love to sing. I love to read and I really enjoy listening to audiobooks. I especially like poetry--Billy Collins and Robert Frost are my favorite right now. I'm obsessed with food. I love long naps. I like to keep myself busy, though, and love having projects to work on. I played basketball in high school and enjoy just playing sports for fun. I'm the oldest of eight children and love my family more than anything. We play sports together, go to movies, and sometimes go on vacations.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this faith. I've been taught the gospel my entire life. But being LDS is something different than just a tradition--each member has their own conversion story, as do I. Through prayer, mistakes, and repentance, I've come to realize the great love that my Father in Heaven has for me and I've discovered parts of His plan for me personally. This gospel is my road map and my foundation to eventually returning to Christ. The blessings I have received from living my faith and keeping the Lord's commandments are all around me. I can feel the truth of it whenever I hear it. Especially coming from a loving family, I am filled with the truth and hope that the gospel brings of life after death and eternal families. To be with your family forever? That's better than anything I can think of. I can feel Christ's love for me and I know that I am a daughter of God. Every ounce of the self-esteem I possess has been built up by him, and without him, I don't know how lost I would be. I know that the world and the images they portray of perfect people cannot influence me or change me through Christ. The scriptures and the words of his prophets lead me daily and have changed me for the better. The Book of Mormon has led and guided me through my entire life, and is especially prominent through my high school career. The standards the gospel has helped me set will always be with me, and have made me a 100% better person. I could go on and on. Without the gospel, I am nothing. Without Christ, my brother, my best friend, my Redeemer--I could never be happy or the person I am now.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by volunteering in the church as a pianist, and serving those around me in whatever way I can. I visit other women in my ward and try to make time for others whenever I can. Not only this, but I try to live my faith through example. I hope that my love for Jesus Christ as my Savior and Redeemer can be expressed in the way that I live and in my daily actions. I hope that by becoming close to Him, I can become more like him. I know I will never be perfect, but I know that through Him I can be complete. In His eyes, my best is enough and I can live my faith by growing a little closer to my "best self" every day. I'm a missionary, and will be serving in Slovakia speaking Slovak. I am living my faith by completely turning my life over to the Lord and sharing His love and plan with His children on the other side of the world!
