Hi I'm Marie

11th of 12 children. College Student. Have read over 8,000 books. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Family Studies student at an excellent University. I am an avid reader and love to learn. I lived in China for 2 months by myself when I was 19 (I don't speak Chinese). I come from a loving family who are grateful to be members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am currently serving an LDS mission in Russia.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know. What do I know? I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior. I know that because of Him, my life has meaning and purpose. I know that because of Jesus Christ's Atonement I can pray to my Father in Heaven and converse with Him, because I know that my Heavenly Father loves me and offered His son so I can become like, and return to, Him again. I know that my life has a plan and that as I follow the counsel of the Living Prophet on the earth today and as I read the words of the Prophets who have gone before in the Scriptures, I can find direction, peace, and hope as I navigate through life. I know that no matter how hard of day(s) we may have, there is someone who loves us no matter what, who knows us better than we know ourselves, and someone we can talk to when we feel like no one else could possibly understand - those someones are your and my Heavenly Father and your and my Savior, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I grew up part of the Mormon Faith. However, I took the time and effort to study, pray, and know for myself that my beliefs were not just good, but true. Currently I help teach the young children in my ward ages 3-11. I love working with them and admire children's ability to say it like it is. I also teach a class for the youth ages 12-18 for a nearby Spanish branch and love being able to share and discuss truth with them. I am also excited to live my faith my serving a mission in Russia. I know that Heavenly Father loves all His children, throughout the world.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Marie
As someone who is about to be a Mormon missionary, I can tell you why I am proselyting. Life is hard. Life is even harder without the knowledge that someone loves you unconditionally and eternally. I am serving a mission because I know that we have a loving Heavenly Father who knows and loves us. I have met many people of diverse backgrounds who have no understanding of this fact and feel alone and unloved. I can't imagine going through life without this knowledge. Because of that, I want to share what I know with EVERYONE, because we are all God's children and He loves us. Everyone should have the opportunity to know of His love. Because He loves us, He has not left us alone. He has given us a prophet on the earth today, just like He has done in the past - because He loves all His children, throughout all generations of time. The prophet today speaks and works on behalf of God (just like ancient prophets did). Because there is a prophet today, we can know what God would have us be doing today. I know that as I follow the prophet's counsel, I am following God and can live a happier, more full of peace life. Because I know that following the living prophet brings happiness to our lives, I want to share that there is a living prophet on the earth today, with all of God's children - because we all could use more happiness and peace in our lives. Those are some reasons why I have chosen to proselyte. Show more Show less
