Hi I'm Tyler

I've lived in California my whole life, and I love volleyball and bodyboarding. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently 19 years old, and I have already attended college for a year. I have grown up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my whole life, and I love it! One of my most loved hobbies is volleyball. I played 4 years of varsity in High School, on a competitive team in College, and I have also coached some volleyball, I am currently coaching a girls freshman high school team. Another hobby, or even more a passion to me, is body-boarding. I love it and have been doing it for multiple years, and hope to get even better in the future, maybe even join a couple competitions some day.

Why I am a Mormon

As I have mentioned, I was born into a family that was active in the Mormon church, so I have always been surrounded by the Mormon church and have grown up in it. there are many members of this church who have grown up into it as I have. However, to know that this is the true church of Jesus Christ, one must still develop their own testimony, or faith, that what they have been taught and have learned is true. Throughout my life I have seen the example and testimony of my parents and family members, and also other members of the church, and they have influenced me to know that what I was doing was right. I have still suffered challenges and struggles just as everyone has and will, but through certain challenges I was able to reach out to my Heavenly Father, and through His son Jesus Christ's Atonement, he was able to reach back out to me and help me get through challenges I have had. Because i have personally searched and prayed to know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ's restored church on the earth today, I have been confirmed by the Holy Spirit of God that this church and its teachings are true and directly from God. I know that the way I am living my life is the way my Heavenly Father wants me to, and anyone can find that truth if they sincerely seek for it. I am a Mormon because I would not be the person I am today without being one, and following the guidance of Jesus Christ's gospel.

How I live my faith

Since I have grown up in the Mormon church my whole life, I have had the opportunity to serve others in the church, and outside, many times. I have held certain assignments or responsibilities within this church, and I have learned and grown a lot from these. For example I am currently a secretary to the Bishop, or our denominational leader, at the specific congregation I attend. I know serving others is a great way to become more like Jesus Christ, and that is why I love Mormon Church because you are always blessed with opportunities to serve. another way in which I will represent my faith soon is by serving a service mission for 2 whole years! I have already been assigned to serve this mission in the country of Samoa. I have chosen to do this myself, because it is an amazing chance that young men and women have in this church to go and teach people about our religion. This is a perfect chance I have to represent my church and to share with others the happiness that I have in the church.

What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

We believe in being baptized the same way that Christ was baptized in the Bible. Even though Jesus Christ was perfect and did not need to be baptized for his sins, because he didn't have any, he still needed to set the example and way for us and he also needed to make that covenant with God. John the Baptist was prepared by God to baptize Christ, so he had the proper authorty. Christ teaches us that we need this same authority to baptize. Since the apostles were killed after Christ left the eath the proper authority was taken away. However why would Heavenly Father allow only those in this antient period of time to receive this blessing if it is essential for our salvation? For this reason God restored the Church of Christ in his own time through Joseph Smith, along with giving him the proper way to baptize and the proper authority. Which is to first have faith in Jesus Christ, then repent of our Sins through His atonement, and then be baptized by immersion by someone holding this restored priesthood authority. We are baptized by immersion because Christ also was in the River Jordan, and it also represents our burrial of our sins, and our rebirth or resurrection as a new follower of Christ, becoming clean again.
