Hi I'm Jordan Stowell

I'm a songwriter, athlete, I have Tourette's, I'm an ultimate frisbee player, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I love writing songs! I love music! Piano and Ukelele are my favorite instruments, besides singing. I've had Tourette's since 5 yrs old, and it hasn't been the easiet thing. But I found music to be a God-given tool in my life for a very specific reason. I've really connected with music. I kinda look at it as a temporary "cure" for my Tourette's. At the end of long stressful days and endless minutes of twitching out, with my body all tense, I can always find a piano to sit at to "play out" my stresses. I've always loved staying active too! Ultimate frisbee is one of my favorites! Me and my friends used to get together all the time to play, until they all left for college and church missions. No biggie though, I play pretty much any sport with anyone! Everyday, I try to see what I can do to help brighten someone else's day. When people around me are happy, so am I. It's that simple. Ever since I was a kid, my biggest dream has been to become a songwriter and to put fun, good, uplifting music out in the world! I'm still persuing that dream. I know God wants me to take this gift He has given me and use it for good in some way. In all my life, I just love makin' a difference in whatever way I can! If ya wanna know more about me, 'bout Mormons, my family, etc. or anything! I'd love to talk to ya and get to know you better!

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was born into the gospel, I had to gain a testimony of my own. I eventually had to have my own conversion story. Bit by bit, little by little throughout my life so far, my testimony has grown into the strong immovable foundation it is now. The happiness this gospel brings, and the joy I receive from living the gospel, which comes from me having a testimony, is what makes me love being Mormon! I have this great knowledge of where I came from, where I'm headed, and how to get there. Everything I learn in this gospel feels complete. So why would I ever stray away from this TRUE and AMAZING gospel?!?

How I live my faith

WITH COURAGE! I stand up for my standards no matter what the situation is. I know God is always watching and because I love Him, I don't ever wanna disappoint Him. Everyday I choose to make it a GOOD day. As long as I say my prayers, read my scriptures, and do something selfless its a GOOD day. I also write songs that have a good spiritual message behind them. Music is very influential, and I think the world needs more music that encourages us to do better things. I tell my family I love them all the time because, well, they are my family and I love them! All that I do in my life feels COMPLETE. one of my favorite quotes is: “Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words.” -St. Francis of Assisi

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Jordan Stowell
The "Mormon lifestyle" is simply living what we believe. We take our testimony and LIVE it everyday. The things we learn and have a testimony of, we let it become a part of our natural being and character. Every single day that goes by, I live my testimony of Faith in Christ and Repentance by relying on my Savior to carry me and trust he will guide me down the BEST paths. We try to model our life after Christ's. Jesus Christ set the perfect example for us. He has every attribute necessary to obtain eternal life and be saved. In every aspect of our life, we work to inherit the attributes that He has. :) As we learn of simple truths and doctrines, we apply them to our daily life. In time, that is what gives us the greatest happiness and joy we can ever have in this life. Heavenly Father is waiting to bless us, His children. All we have to do is live the lifestyle He wants us to live :) Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Jordan Stowell
BECAUSE FAMILIES ARE FOREVER! We can be with them for longer than just our life here on earth. So, wouldn't you think something that lasts forever is important? Also, while here on earth, our families are a SUPER big part of support, encouragement and happiness in this life. Imagine what the world would be like without families? Now think of how much support and love you feel from your family, and how much more of that you can have in the future too! God is our Heavenly FATHER. He's our eternal dad! So I think he knows a bit about how important families are ;) And that's why he put us in families here. Show more Show less

What is the Law of Chastity?

Jordan Stowell
It is keeping your heart, soul, and consciousness clean, pure and free of guilt! God has given us the sacred power and miracle to create new life. This gift is for our eternal happiness, not our temporal pleasure. When we keep our sexual relations ONLY within the bonds of legal marriage between a man and a wife, God blesses us in completely incomprehensible ways! If you have broken this law, do not lose hope, because Christ overcame ALL of our sins. Do yourself a favor and enjoy the light, peace, comfort, and happiness that comes from following this law! What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

Jordan Stowell
God is know as our Heavenly Father. In simpler terms, our Dad who lives in Heaven. He is PERFECT and knows every single one of His children PERFECTLY. He is kind, generous, merciful, forgiving, has more love for us than we can comprehend. He has a body like ours! (except His is perfected) but how cool is that to be made in the image of God?! And the thing He wants MOST is for us to return to live with Him again in perfect everlasting happiness and joy. Working hard to become like He is. and if you want to know if this or anything else is true, ask Him ;) Show more Show less

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Jordan Stowell
The temple is the most sacred place on earth where we make very special promises with Heavenly Father that make it possible to return to Him again. And those same ordinances that we do for ourselves in the temple, we also do for those who have passed from this lif, so EVERYONE has an opportunity to accept those unique blessings required for eternal life! The temple is literally Heaven on Earth. :) Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Jordan Stowell
Without a doubt FO SHO! The bible has such great truths and sermons taught of and by Jesus Christ. Writings so old have to be truth, or else it would not have lasted this long. The great beauty of it in today's world is that we now have another book of god given revelation to support and uphold everything the bible teaches! That way we can know for sure what the truth really is in today's chaotically interpretive world. Pretty much: Bible is awesome, hand-in-hand with the Book of Mormon= unstoppable! Show more Show less
