Hi I'm Jeanie

I was born in Oklahoma. Have lived all over the US & the UK. I am a convert. And very proud to be a Mormon.

About Me

I am a single mom. I spend most of my time with my family. I love to walk everywhere I can. My hobbies include crocheting afghans, write poetry, read (I love Shakespeare & old classics), various crafts, & sketching. I'm currently studying to get my accreditation for genealogy (my new love), & studying Italian with my son. I love being in the outdoors & especially love to be by the sea. I've travelled all over the US & have lived in the UK for a few years.

Why I am a Mormon

I lived most of my life as a Baptist. Although I have attended oher types of Churches in my quest for what was true & right. I always had a problem with the 'Religious Bashing' that other faiths wered doing. As well as all the gloom & doom & "you're a sinner, you're going to Hell!" everytime I blinked an eyelash. I wanted to believe that God was a Loving God, & not out to throw me to the side for the slightest transgression. When the missionaries came, I listened, but tended to argue with them. I was totally against anything that was different than what I had been raised with. Then one day, while trying to read the Book of Mormon, (& having a hard time at it too); I prayed for guidance & for the courage to let go of any obstinance that was blocking me from receiving anything the Lord wanted me to know. The old saying Let Go & Let God really came to mind then. Well, needless to say, afterwards I was able to read & actually absorb the love & knowledge that came from the Scriptures. I was able to truely open up to what all the Lord was trying to teach me. And a happiness filled me like no other. It wasn't long after this, I started having these dreams of being baptized. Each night revealed more & more to me. After the 3rd night I woke up & said "Alright Lord I get the point! I trust you". The next day I told the missionaries I wanted to be baptized. Their joy was soo amazing! They were actually jumping & shouting! I now understand this, as it's how I feel when I learn of someone else coming to the Lord.

How I live my faith

I love helping others in the Church; as well as the missionaries helping them with those who are investigating the Church thru my calling as the Ward Family History Rep. (genealogy). I'm also a Coordinator for our Visiting Teaching program, as well as a Visiting Teacher myself. I also love being a substite teacher for our primary. I am happy to volunteer for anything that I can be of assistance with. Talking with others about my faith makes me feel good & proud & furthers my love for the Gospel & my Heavenly Father & His Son Jesus Christ.
