Hi I'm Mike C Pierce

I grew up in Kearns, Utah. I am a Realtor. I like to mountain bike. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I was born in Kearns, Ut in 1952 to Marlene and Clyde Pierce. I had two sisters, Karen and Sheila. I graduated from Kearns High School, went on an LDS mission to Canada, then married my high school sweetheart, Julie Burton (Pierce). I finished my education at the University of Utah as an Electrical Engineer, working for several small companies until I went to work for Novell in Provo, Utah, where I worked for ten years. Then, after leaving Novell, I went into Real Estate, and that is where I am now, working with my wife in Canyon View Real Estate. We have raised four wonderful children, who are living in diverse places. I like to spend my extra time riding my mountain bike in the nearby Wasatch Mountains with my Boxer, Wally.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was young, I had no particular religious affiliation. I met a young girl who was an active Mormon, and I had a strong interest in her. She took time to explain the Mormon tenets to me. I still was extremely skeptical, and not sure that the Mormon faith and its perceived restrictions was for me. There came a time when I needed to decide for myself, away from the pressures of friends, family, and so I left town for a while to work, and think about it all for myself. While I was away, I took time to study the Mormon faith on my own, and pray about it. That's when I gained my own knowledge that the things I was being taught were true. During this time, I was given the opportunity to become a Pro on the ski circuit, and lead that lifestyle with all its excitement. After thinking and praying about it, I decided that what I really wanted, instead, was to be a good father. The teachings in the Mormon faith are about how to do just that. The teachings in the Mormon faith guide families to return to our Heavenly Home, and teach us that Jesus is our Savior and Redeemer. I came to know for myself that those teachings were where I wanted to spend my energy and they were what I wanted as a guide for my family. That's why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am a clerk in our church group. I handle the donations and make sure they are safely and correctly accounted for. I also visit some of the members in our church, and make sure their needs are met. For instance, we recently helped a widow sister in our area cut down some huge trees in her yard. I have worked with the youth in the past, in Scouting, and helping young men have good experiences in serving others by building homes in Mexico. I have spent time with youth on hikes, camping trips, boating trips, and wilderness trips, all to help guide and build character. In many of these activities, my own sons were involved, and we spent time doing this together. Currently, I am also a Block captain for our neighborhood emergency preparedness committee. I would be responsible for helping others should we have a disaster where coordination is necessary.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

Mike C Pierce
We believe that God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost are distinct eternal beings. We worship the Father in the name of His Son. We believe we are created in His image and that all human beings are children of our Father in Heaven and that He loves each of us and has provided the means for us to return to His kingdom which is by and through the atonement of His Son, Jesus Christ. Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Mike C Pierce
My wife and I often find ourselves supporting candidates from different parties. We have heated debates at times. The church does not support or oppose any political party. However, we are always encouraged to be involved in our communities, the political process and to vote Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Mike C Pierce
We worship our Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ. We also believe that God directs his people through living prophets as in biblical times. We believe that Joseph Smith was called by God as a prophet to restore His gospel and that prophets, called of God, lead the Lord's church today. Show more Show less
