Hi I'm Kayla

I'm a Texan. I'm a teacher. I'm a wife. I'm a mother of 3. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I love to bake! My mom was always making something, and usually giving half of it away to friends or those in need. I guess it just rubbed off on me. Especially at Chrsitmas time, I make several goodies and give away plates to my friends or those in need of love. I like to have my sons help me in the kitchen. Their favorite part is cleaning up afterwards AKA licking the beaters. I also enjoy taking pictures of my food (usually desserts) and sharing them through social media sites. I try to read different food blogs and get recipe ideas, as well. I participate in a Jazzercise class here in my town. I think that that helps me balance out the sweets I make.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They taught me and my brothers and sisters about the church since we were small children. As I grew and became more independent I continued to live the same way that they taught me. I found and continue to find that as I stay close to my Heavenly Father, he stays near me and blesses me. I have read the Book of Mormon several times and know that it is a true book. Heavenly Fathers wishes all of his children to know Him and follow his teachings. I believe that Jesus Christ showed himself to those people in the Americas. I am thankful for the Prophet Joseph Smith who translated the Book of Mormon, so I could enjoy it's teachings today. I know that there is a prophet here on earth, just as there was in ancient times. God wishes to speak to us, and through his prophet we can know what he would have us do. I am proud to be called a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Actions speak louder than words. So, I try to show my devotion to the teachings of Christ everyday. At church I have the opportunity to teach the children. I enjoy their enthusiasm and humility. They are so excited to learn, and often I find myself being taught by them. At home I teach my children how to pray and behave in a Christ-like way. Monday nights my husband and I have a short lesson on a moral topic. I am thankful for this time where we can discuss and answer questions that will help them understand the way Jesus Christ wishes us to live.
