Hi I'm Nathan Goff

I am a husband and father of four children. I work as an orthopedic Physical Therapist. I fly fish, and I I'm a mormon

About Me

Growing up, I was very interested in music and hoped to be a rock and roll drummer, but as I got into high school and college my musical interested begain to change and I found my self much more interested in Jazz Piano and eventually to choral music. In College I considered a career as a Choral director, but feared I would not be able to provide for a family in the way I wanted. I hurt my knee on a skiing trip and was introduced to Physical Therapy. I quickly discovered that I had an intense interest in the field and really enjoyed working and interacting with people in a way that would improve their lives. While I still enjoy music and would one day love to sing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, or perhaps pick up the drum sticks again and play in a garage band, I have found my life and career fulfilling. To color in some of the spaces between a career and all the demands of a young family, I love soccer, fly fishing, politics, history, camping, riding my bike and I can even tolerate a little gardening. I have been blessed with four great kids that work hard to live balanced lives, and have a beautiful wife that keeps all the little complicated gears in our lives greased and running smoothly.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a mormon family, but it wasn't until I was about 19 years old that I decided I had better find out for myself if what I had been taught my whole like was true. It only made sence to me that God would only have one complete truth on the earth, and we as his children had a responsibility to find out what that was and where that could be found. I believe in the power of prayer and that our Heavenly father answers our prayers. I studied the scriptures and spent much time in prayer to better understand them and to find the truth. One day while reading, I leaned back in my chair and said to myself, "this just makes sence." I had a warm feeling come over me and in my heart and mind I heard or felt a voice that said, "there is your answer." The Lord communicated to me in a way unmistaken to me. I suspect each individual person receives answers to prayer in a different way, but the Lord always answers those who ask with real intent. To this day I charish that event.

How I live my faith

In my church I have currently been asked to serve as a sunday school teacher for adults. I enjoy diving into the scriptures and taping into my love of history to bring texture to the lessons about our Savior. I feel if we better understand the cultural and political atmosphere during the Saviors life, we can better appreciated and understand his teachings. We can also then draw parallels in out own lives. I have also had the opportunity to serve as a church choir director, Young men youth leader, and the secretary for our bishop (pastor). All of these experiences help me better understand the blessings of selfless service to others. This church activity helps me in my family relationships and helps me to be more empathetic in my career as I help others with physical challenges.
