Hi I'm Dolores

I'm a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and great-grandmother, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a person who loves life and loves to have fun. I am a child at heart, but a little older than that. I was blessed with the talent of hairstyling and doing makeup. I didn't get my license until I had kids in school, but I have always loved doing hair as a hobby. I have a large family. We love to get together for special occasions and enjoy each other's company and do fun things together. I enjoy all kinds of music, but especially have enjoyed being a choir director at the Church. I collect porcelian dolls that I have all other my house. I love a good movie with a big bowl of buttery popcorn! I love to swim. It is my favorite kind of exercise. When I swim laps it takes all the stress and worry away.

Why I am a Mormon

My grandparents joined the Church in the backwoods of Louisiana and were baptized in a creek in 1898. Each one of their parents (my great-granparents) were baptized in 1901. So, we had a large family in the South that became Mormons in the early days. I have enjoyed raising my children in the Church because of the teachings of Christ and the Atonement. We enjoyed having family home evenings learning more about each other and the Gospel. Families are a very important part of the Gospel and by living it we are a very close family. I have a grandson that served a mission in Boise Idaho. One of the reasons he wanted to serve a mission is because his grandparents (my husband and I) had served one. He was very touched by it, and I was grateful to be such an example to him. I have a testimony of the Gospel. I know it is true. I love my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I am thankful for Christ and the Atonement so that we can go back and live with our Heavenly Father again.

How I live my faith

I have always been interested in doing genealogy so I have done a lot of family research on my family lines. My mother was interested in it and I picked it up when she couldn't do it anymore. I have traced my line back to England and Ireland. Doing family history help me appreciate my ancestors and the link we share. My husband and I served a mission for the Church as a couple in Kirtland, Ohio. We served a "Service Mission" at this Church-historical site. My husband is wonderful at doing anything with his hands so he was quite handy with doing repairs in the homes and in the area. I helped with keeping the sites clean and orderly for the tourists. We served for 18 months and it was the most wonderful experience I had as I served the Church. I feel like my Heavenly Father blessed us and our family so very much. Even though we weren't able to see our family very often, they understood the work that we were doing. One a few occasions our children were able to come and see first-hand the work we were doing. Each one took a tour of the sites and was so touched by the spirit that is there and to see all the work we had done. We had a wonderful relationship with all the other missionaries and enjoyed doing things together. I have had many other opportunities to serve in the Church which have provided me with knowledge and confidence. I used to be so shy. It is so much more fun not being shy!
