Hi I'm Joseph Nephi Castro

I'm a native of New York, play piano and ukulele, love reading, public speaking, and friends and family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello! My name is Joseph Nephi, and I'm a fun-loving, friendly, talkative person. I abolutely love talking. I was on my high school's Speech and Debate Team, and qualified to compete at the National Level. This has eventually evolved into a passion for teaching, something I may make a career out of. I also love music. You can usually find me playing piano, or ukulele. I love playing hymns, and making my own hymn arrangements. I'm also an avid reader, and have developed a love both for classics, and modern literature. Between September 2012 and August 2014, I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I served in the England Manchester Mission, which was a great blessing. It was out there that I could tangibly see the results of the gospel being introduced into someone's life. Now, I am studying Accounting at BYU, in Preparation for Law School.

Why I am a Mormon

Throughout my life, I have been blessed with the wonderful examples of my two parents. They have instilled in me a strong sense of right and wrong, and have taught me to find truth on my own, much like they did, back when they were living in Ecuador. And so, although, I have been encouraged from a young age to draw myself closer to God, ultimately, it was a choice that I was to make on my own. I firmly believe that this church is true. In no other place have I found the peace that this gospel brings me. I know that the restored truth is on the earth once more, and that Joseph Smith was the Lord's chosen servant to bring about that Restoration. I know of the truth of the Book of Mormon, and love it dearly. It has answered many questions throughout my life, and continues to do so. I have come to know for myself that Jesus Christ is my Savior, and that in and through him I can find strength, peace, and comfort.I have come to know for myself that Jesus Christ is my Savior, and that in and through him I can find strength, peace, and comfort.

How I live my faith

As mentioned above, I have served a mission for the Churc, which was quite a time to refine and prove my faith. I was constantly talking to people, sharing my beliefs, and inviting people to come closer to our Father in Heaven through His son Jesus Christ. Preceeding my service, however, I had the great opportunity to share my musical talents in the support of the church. I have played piano in accompianemnt of my congregation's choir, and that was a wonderful blessing. I have also been asked, at times, to perform a inspirational, solo piano piece during our worship service. Few joys in my life compare to the feelings felt when I help others feel the Spirit through music. I've headed various musical activities, because I have a strong, strong belief that music is one of the most inspiring gifts our Father in Heaven has given us.
