Hi I'm Spencer

I grew up in Salt Lake City, I love to ski and play lacrosse. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in Salt Lake City and love to go skiing and play lacrosse. I'm going to college studying Biomedical Engineering, I like to go to concerts with my friends, go mountain biking with friends, and anything else outdoors. I also just like sitting back with my friends and watching a good movie or joke around. I've done service for others such as volunteering at a kids museum and going to Thailand to help teach the kids English and hygiene.

Why I am a Mormon

I have continued to live as a Mormon because there is so much peace that this church has to offer. I have felt God's love in my life during trying times such as deaths of loved ones or watching friends struggle with life. I know that God loves me and the church has taught me that whatever I go through in life will make me a better person in the end. I know that God is there for me in any hard times I have if I just offer up a prayer to him I know that he will answer me and comfort me. Through reading the Book of Mormon I have found my life change and I have become a better brother, son, and friend to all those I meet. I know that by living what the Book of Mormon teaches brings me closer to our Savior Jesus Christ and through his teachings I can live with my family forever. I know that Joseph Smith was called as a prophet of God to help restore the gospel in these modern times where there's so much confusion in life. I know that God has given us a prophet on the Earth to help us return to him in heaven. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Right now I'm living my faith by serving a full time mission in the Tallahassee Florida Mission. I have always tried to be a good example to those who are around me and want to show people that we truly are Christians. .

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Spencer
There's so much going on in the world today that you can easily get caught up in everything and not think about what is your purpose of being here in the first place. The purpose of this life was to leave the presence of our Heavenly Father for a time and learn through our own experiences to change and become better people. He hasn't left us alone to go through all the trials that will definitely hit us while we're trying to learn and grow though. He gives us the scriptures, the ability to pray to him, inspired prophets, the example of our Savior Jesus Christ, and our families to help support us through all of our growing pains. Think of it like this. Your parents spend a short time amount of time with you to teach you, help you make your own decisions, and to influence your life so you can be happy. After awhile though we all leave our parents and go out on our own. If our parents didn't allow us to leave our home we would be stuck and never become a true adult. We wouldn't be able to start families of our own and we would miss out on many of the experiences they got to have growing up away from home. It's the same with our Heavenly Father. He isn't selfish, he wants all of us to enjoy the happiness that he enjoys. He loves and cares for us. He has placed us on Earth away from him, so that we can reach our full potential. Someday we will return to him, but for now we need to use this life to change and become better people. Show more Show less
