Are Mormons Christians?

The main differences are that as members of the LDS Church (Mormon is a nickname), we believe that we have the authority of the Priesthood that was divinely put back onto earth after it was taken. We also believe that in order for a CHurch to have the authority to act in Christ's name, it must receive revelation through a living prophet on earth. We believe the first of these living prophets was a man named Joseph Smith, who when he was your age questioned which religion was the one for him, as you are now. He read a chapter in the Bible that changed his life forever. James 1:5 At this time, Joseph retired to the woods near his home and decided to pray and ask God which religion was right for him. The biggest difference to me is that when we talk to people about our church, we don't try and convince them, we give them the same words of a prophet a long time ago and ask them to pray about it themselves. Here is that passage. Moroni 10:3-5 Each person on earth can know *for themselves* if this message is true. Just having one person say it and then following is ok, but since this is a decision that is for your entire life, doesn't it make sense that you should *know* I mean really *know* if it is right? The Power of the Holy Ghost is sometimes described as a feeling that is a burning in your heart, or peace or extreme happiness. Once you feel it, you know. I feel calm and the love of Jesus Christ when I am feeling the influence of the Holy Ghost. Show more Show less
