Hi I'm Jared Amos

I'm a sportsman, conductor, semi-professional teddy-maker, cheesecake lover and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from the English countryside in Cambridgeshire and have a wonderful family, which includes my parents, 2 younger brothers, older sister, Grandma and Cat. I have enjoyed many years playing sports with them and participating in activities with them. I love going on holiday and especially like the 'Centre Parcs' resort. I consider myself sporty and take part in a variety of sports, with my favourite being Track and Field. I come from a musical family and have learnt to conduct music. I conduct on a Sunday at our church. My desire is to learn to play the piano better and play more like my younger brother, who is an excellent piano player. In 2007, aged 11, I began making stuffed-toy animals and selling them to friends just to make some extra money. It was not an official company, but I gave myself a company name and logo. Even though I do not sell the toys today, I continue to sew and enjoy doing so. I am currently serving a mission in the Denmark Copenhagen Mission and have a wonderful to learn Danish and meet many Danish people. This means that I invite people to learn more about this gospel, talk with people and serve people who may require help. I look forward to the future as I have not yet decided what I want to do, but am currently planning to go to University, having studied PE, Biology and Maths in Sixth Form.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been brought up as a Mormon all of my life, so part of me has always believed in a God. Me and my next youngest brother enjoy studying some aspects of science and have often looked for evidence of a God. But the strongest experience for my belief was when I was 13 years old, as I was attending a church youth camp. I felt lost at the time in many ways, but as the week went on I had two very spiritual experiences. I felt the holy ghost witness to me that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church of God. And just for those moments, my eyes were opened beyond natural capacity and I knew that I needed to belong to this church. It is a testimony of mine that is hard to describe fully in words, as it is personal to my feelings and thoughts at the time. But all I can say is that Jesus, the Christ, lives and has died for our sins so that we all have the opportunity to repent and be saved if we are willing. The church has the authority from God to act in his name and I testify that the church is led by true apostles and prophets. I know this to be true and it brings me such happiness having this knowledge, and it makes me want to share this glad message with others so that they can feel the same happiness I feel.

How I live my faith

I am currently a missionary, with the name 'Elder' representing a missionary. I have an opportunity to teach people and help them understand how the gospel of Jesus Christ can bless them. The simple answer to how I life my religion, however, is that I just try to incorporate the values the gospel of Jesus Christ teaches and fun into my life. The values of the gospel are there to bless our lives more than we can comprehend, and we are to find fun and happiness in everything that we do. I loved going on holiday or doing fun activities with my family, which is what I love about life. I am not perfect and I have challenges in life, like everyone. So, I go to church each Sunday to learn more about the gospel and learn how I can overcome these challenges. I find greater strength in life from other church members, good people in the world, praying to God and through reading the scriptures. I find answers to questions that I have an find greater joy in life.
