Hi I'm Andrew Johnson

I was born in Mesa, but grew up in Gilbert. I'm serving my mission in Toronto, Canada. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a huge sports guy. I enjoy watching football, basketball, and baseball. I love playing in competitive sports because I feel like it builds character and brings friendship. It teaches me leadership skills and communication with others. My coaches have had a big influence in my life. I also like weightlifting and running. It makes me feel healthier and it helps me clear my mind. I love music. Music has gotten me through some hard times in my life, especially when the music is uplifting and makes me feel good about myself. I always listen to a lot of soft rock and country but I also listen occasionally to my alternative as long as it doesnt take away the good feelings that I have. I also like to ride dirtbikes and quads because they give me an adrenaline rush.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon all my life. I kinda grew up just believing in my parent's testimony. I didn't know for sure of myself that the gospel was true and that it was restored by the prophet Joseph Smith in these last days. I just believed my parents because I did not want to disappoint them. Going through High School I got caught up with the wrong crowd and started to do things that were pretty bad. But during the summer before my senior year my friend and I got into a very dangerous car accident that we were very lucky to survive. The guy that we hit ran a red light as we were going through the same intersection with a green light and my friend who was driving looked down at the wrong second and didn't notice the other guy running a red light. So we t-boned them and we spun around a lot and the other guys truck rolled on its top. Luckily no one was badly injured in either cars. My friend tore something in his arm and got a concussion. I was luckly and only came out with really bad whiplash to where i had to wear a neck brace for a couple weeks. The doctor said I should of been paralyzed. I also had some prescriptions that weren't subscribed to me on me where a cop had to come in and tell me that if the accident would have been our fault I would have a felony charge on me. I took this experience has a huge sign that I needed to change. I knew that God had spared my life so that I could fulfill my purpose to serve a mission and to help grow his church and learn of his gospel. As I got close to my mission call I studied the Book of Mormon. I prayed to know that it is true and the spirit has testified to me of its truthfulness. I know that this church is true and that the scriptures are true. I know that the gospel has been restored in these last days by the Prophet Joseph Smith and that he has translated the Book of Mormon through the power of God. I know there is a living prophet on the earth today who is Thomas S. Monson. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I do my best to serve those that need help whether its just helping them with their yard or moving things or if they just need someone to talk. A lot of people actually say that I give good advice so it makes me feel good when I talk with someone to help solve their problem. I go to church every sunday because of the great spirit that it brings. I love church. The most recent thing that I am about to do is to go serve my mission in Toronto, Canada. It is strongly recommended for each boy around the age of 19 to go and serve a mission for 2 years to wherever they get called to go. Every missionary that has gone that I have talked to has told me that it was the best two years of their life to be able to go out and serve so that has always inspired me to go out myself. I am assigned to do spanish speaking in Toronto and I barely know any spanish but I have faith that our Heavenly Father will always be there to help me along the way. I know that serving a mission will bless my life and my family's life and those that I help serve while I am out.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Andrew Johnson
The Book of Mormon is another witness, just as the bible, of Jesus Christ and that he really did live. If you read the introduction of the Book of Mormon it will give you the exact explanation of what it is which is sacred scripture. It builds upon the bible and actually helps clarify some of its teachings. It is the writings of the teachings of the ancient prophets of the American Continent of which the Lord commanded them to write. It contains the teachings of Jesus Christ and testifies of his wonderful Atonement and love. It was meant for the convincing of his word and his true gospel and commandments to all his children. In Moroni 10:4 it gives the promise that those who read the Book of Mormon and sincerely pray to our Heavenly Father with real intent will have the Holy Ghost testify to them that it is true. It is an undeniable truth that is felt if we truly pray to find out that it is. I have had the Holy Ghost testify to me that it is true and I feel it each time I read it. Anytime I am going through a hard time I go and read the Book of Mormon and the Bible and the Holy Ghost comforts me and testifies to me of it's truthfulness. Show more Show less
