Hi I'm Steven J. Desir

I am an athlete, a baby brother, I grew up in England and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I’m 23 years old and I love to have a good time. From the age of 12 I had the dream of playing professional Basketball and still do. I love the outdoors and anything that can be physically challenging. I have always been into designing and building things, and would like to take that further into becoming a Civil Engineer.

Why I am a Mormon

My Parents both joined the Church in around about their twenties, so I was "born" into the Church, but that doesn't mean that it wasn't my choice to be a member of it. No one is born converted. I love the values that are established and defended here! That's what moved me to choose to be a fully active member of the Lord's Church. I have received my own personal witness that God is our loving Heavenly Father and that he has a great plan for us that exceeds life on this earth, and that our older Brother Jesus Christ is central to this amazing plan. I have also come to know that we have a true Prophet on the earth today who was called of God to lead and direct us, just like in times of old. And most of all, I’ve come to know through studying and praying that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and that we can come closer to God by living by its teachings as with the Bible. You too can find this out for yourselves rather than taking my word for it. The Book of Mormon holds a powerful promise that whoever reads it, thinks about the message it contains and then asks God, WILL receive the answer that it is true. This can also be done with any question that we may have. As it says in Matthew 7, 'Ask and you shall receive'. I promise that if you pray in Faith and ask God for understanding or whatever you feel in need of, he will help you. Maybe not straight away, but I promise he will in time.

How I live my faith

I live my life pretty much the same as everyone else. Being a Mormon doesn’t make me different to anyone else or more favoured in Gods eyes. We are all Gods sons and daughters and he loves us equally. But I guess the one thing that does make me different from most is the fact that I know who I am and I know what God expects of me. Therefore, I live life to the best that I can. I avoid all harmful substances so that I can stay on top of my game and be in control of my thoughts and actions. I also served a full-time voluntary mission for my church in the Northern parts of England (The England Manchester Mission) where I had the opportunity to learn about, and come to know Jesus Christ in a way I had never before. This happened mainly through my studies of the Bible and The Book of Mormon. It was the definately an experience I will never forget and look forward to sharing. No work is greater, than the work of God.
