Hi I'm Marie

I am a doctor. I am a mom. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a physician by day and a mommy when the school bus gets home. I love both of my full time jobs and wouldn't trade it for anything. My husband has been a stay at home dad for the past four years, and sometimes he likes it, and sometimes we talk about how to get him working more. My kids range from 9 years old to 3 years old and keep my life busy and happy. When I started medical school, many people wondered how I would get through with my first son only 3 weeks old. Often times I wondered too, but I felt in my heart that this was the right path. I also knew that having my first child was the right decision as well. It took enormous faith to do both at the same time, and yet I knew that there had to be a way. If the Lord was directing my life, and if answers come to prayers the way I have always believed they do, then I had to trust. For God cannot lie.

Why I am a Mormon

A friend once asked me what I liked best in my religious beliefs. I thought for a minute and responded that what I liked best is the knowledge of a Father in Heaven who is personally interested and involved in my life and that, because of that relationship, every question I have about doctrine, scripture or life can be answered through prayer. To me prayer is a direct conversation with God, and I am entitled to answers and revelation for my life. I am His daughter and he knows me so well that those answers I seek are given to me in a way I understand. Not always in the timing I want, and sometimes only in small snippets at a time, but always directly to me. Sometimes in the form of "spiritual two by fours" since I tend to be stubborn and headstrong. Sometimes when my heart is softer, in quiet impressions on my soul that the Lord is near and knows me. That is why I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints; because I asked my Father in Heaven about truth and He answered.

How I live my faith

When I started medical school, many people wondered how I would get through with my first son only 3 weeks old. Often times I wondered too, but I felt in my heart that this was the right path. I also knew that having my first child was the right decision as well. It took enormous faith to do both at the same time, and yet I knew that there had to be a way. If the Lord was directing my life, and if answers come to prayers the way I have always believed they do, then I had to trust. For God cannot lie.
