Hi I'm Barbara Olvera

I was born in Guatemala. I grew up in Vegas. Converted when I was 12 years old. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 20 years old and happily married to my best friend :)! I moved to Salt Lake 2 yrs ago, I left all my life back in Vegas where I lived for 10 yrs, at the moment I didn't understand why I was moving there and I hated every moment of it, when I started being positive is when my Father in Heaven started blessing me and he put in my way a handsome young man, who became my best friend pretty fast & after that he became my boyfriend at three months of dating he proposed to me & here we are 9 months later married for all time and eternity! I come from a family of 3 kids, I am the oldest. My family & I converted 5 years ago, by far the best decision my parents ever made... It has taught me to live my life differently and with a purpose. Having the gospel in my life has been a huge blessing to me, I have learned to understand that trials are a part of our everyday spiritual growth.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because... I have felt in my heart strongly the spirit testifying to me that this gospel is TRUE! That if we live a righteously life, we will return to the presence of our Father in Heaven and that we will be able to live with him again, that our families will be eternal. I love this gospel with all my heart it truly does inspire me to be a better person everyday to work harder to achieve my goals and to NEVER give up, because I have a divine potential. This gospel has helped me be a more positive person and to know that everything will be alright no matter how dark the situation may seem sometimes. My scriptures are my everyday strength, I love reading the Book of Mormon every time I read it I learn and find something new, I love studying the Book of Mormon. I know without any doubt that Joseph Smith was called to serve in the last dispensation to restore the gospel of Jesus Christ on this earth, because of his sacrifice and faith today we have the true gospel established upon this earth. I am grateful for that. I love to attend the temple the peace that you feel there doesn't compare to anything in this world...

How I live my faith

I live my faith to the best of my ability, everyday I try to learn from my mistakes and to not make them again the next day, when I first got baptized I didn't have much faith but as I have grown and have received callings I have come to know that my Father in Heaven and Savior Jesus Christ live and that they love me NO matter how many times I mess up in life... That they are the only ones that will always be my side. Serving as a Laurel President in young women's taught various lessons, one of them is that we should ALWAYS LOVE ONE ANOTHER no matter what size, shape,or color we are... We all have something in common and that is that we are children of God, we were created in his image and therefor we shouldn't criticize we should look beyond the outside of a person and look for their virtues and values. After graduating high school I was called to serve in primary, I had the age group of 6 & 7 year old kids and they strengthen my faith by seeing how excited they were to be baptize when they turned 8, I had a little girl in my class who always counted the days down until her baptism she is very special to me and I admire her strong faith at such a young age. My callings have helped me grow stronger to Heavenly Father and Savior they have helped me turned my weaknesses into strengths. I KNOW without a doubt that the church is TRUE!
