Hi I'm Josh

I grew up in West Jordan, Utah. I am the youngest of 6. I enjoy running and playing soccer. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am 19 years old, and I live in Utah. I love spending time with my family and friends. Some of my favorite things to do are play the piano and guitar, run, play soccer and ultimate frisbee, and hike!! I am currently serving in the Bolivia Santa Cruz Mission! I plan to go to college when I return, but I haven't decided where to yet. I just graduated from high school a few months ago and while there I enjoyed being involved in many things such as student government, peer leadership team, cross country, and track and field!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have received witness for myself that this is God's true church. Through going to church and attending seminary I have been able to greater recognize the blessings in my life and how being a member of the church has added to those. I have been lucky to have amazing friends and family who have been amazing examples to me of how to live. Because of the righteous examples of my friends, I have been able to gain a greater testimony of my Heavenly Father and the atonement. On a recent trip I took with my friends to St. George, Utah, we had the opportunity to visit the St. George Temple. While at the visitors center, we watched a movie about Christ and his atonement. Afterwards, we went around and we all shared our feelings from the movie and I was able to receive a witness of Christ's love for me and for all of his children. I know this and the truthfulness of this and the church has been shown to me countless times as I go to church or listen to the words of the prophet. Once we have a testimony of one aspect of the Gospel, we can use that to base everything else off of. Because I know Joseph Smith was a Prophet, I know that the Book of Mormon is true and because I know the Book of Mormon is True, I know that Jesus Christ suffered for me and has been resurrected. This knowledge has brought me much comfort throughout my life. I continue to follow His gospel because of the joy it brings me and I hope that I will be able to share this joy with those I meet through my testimony.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith as best I can so I can be an example to others. I have gotten to serve in the leadership of my different quorums several times and while doing so I got the opportunity to show leadership as well as serve the other young men in our quorum and get to know them better. Currently I home teach a few families in our ward and I have loved getting to know them and being able to serve them by giving blessings, helping them move, etc. I love spending time with the youth in our ward and they are a big influence on and example to me and I try my hardest to be a positive example for them!

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Baptism is a necessary ordinance to obtain Salvation and enter the kingdom of God. It is symbolic of being born again as we are fully immersed and brought up again out of the water and having the water wash away our sins. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

We are saved by grace "after all we can do." We are not perfect and so our Father in Heaven has blessed us with the atonement of his son, Jesus Christ. Jesus' grace has been shown to us when he suffered for all of us in the Garden of Gethsemane. Through this grace we can be cleansed from our sins if we accept Christ's atonement by doing our best to live his Gospel and by repenting of our sins. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Missionary service is an opportunity for members of the church to share what we have with the world. As members, we are able to partake of the joy and blessings received by obeying God's commandments. When we have this joy, it is natural for us to have a desire to share it with others we meet and those we love. Missionary service is done as an act of love for our Heavenly Father and for others.
