Hi I'm Philip Hofmann

I'm from Switzerland. I went to school, did military service for a year and am currently serving a mission. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest of the family, with and oldest brother and an older sister. It is good to be the youngest; I feel the most spoiled ;) I am very lucky to be born into such a nice family. I went mostly to school until I served in military for a year in infantry. Military service is a duty in Switzerland, but it was also a good experience. Currently I am serving as a missionary in Utah in the United States. I love hiking in the mountains, it’s the best. It frees my mind, gives me time to think, and I love the nature. I also love the sound of a piano. It is so rich in expression and varied in creating a specific atmosphere.

Why I am a Mormon

At the age of seventeen, I asked myself if I am in this church because I was born/ raised into it, or because I wanted to. I started to question, and I only could find good in this church and in my faith, for God has helped me throughout my life. I prayed to God if the Book of Mormon really is true and His words, and if Joseph Smith really is His prophet. And I noticed a warmth coming up in my heart. I asked if God really is there and is sending this feeling, and the warmth grew even stronger, filling out my whole body. I know, this was the answer to my prayer. I know that he is our loving heavenly Father, and that he wants to help us in our lives. I know that the Book of Mormon is true, and that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I know that I can be with my loving family forever together, through the blessings of the temple. I know that Jesus is the Christ, He gave His life willingly, to help us coming back to our Father in Heaven. I say this as a witness to the world. I say "I know" through the experiences and feelings that I had in my life, and I'd like everyone to know for themselves, if what I have said is true. I invite everyone to ask God in prayer, if this is true, for He is our loving Heavenly Father, He is there, and He wants to answer us. This answer can come in a slight feeling, like the warmth I had in me, or in many other ways. The more you will pray, the better you will recognize this feeling, for it is the Holy Ghost, who testifies of all truths.

How I live my faith

I'm going to church every Sunday morning, for it strengthens me in faith every week. Currently i am on my mission in Utah, USA. For two years i stopped my educational / career plans and try to share that love that god has for us and try to help everyone feel the love he has for them. I hope that all can experience his love for themselves through prayer and scripture study, having faith in Jesus Christ and His atonement, which He did out of His love for us. I know how important it is for us to pray and read scriptures and go to church. Without Him, I would be nothing.

What is being a Mormon like?

Philip Hofmann
It’s like being myself :D Just because I am Mormon doesn't mean that I suddenly act different. I am still a normal person. I am still Philip, with all the strengths and weaknesses and hobbies and loves and family members and friends and cousins etc. I still love piano :) Of course what I try is to constantly improve, like everyone else too. I have standards that I am living, like everyone else too. I communicate each day with God through prayer, because I want to. God wants us to be ourselves, because there is something every one of us can add to society and to our environment. I also know that God gives us guidelines in this life, because he loves us, and he knows exactly what can help us. And I am following these guidelines, because I love Him. Show more Show less
