Hi I'm Ricky Barker

I grew up in Utah. I love to swim. I love to write. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to swim. I swam for my high school's swim team for three years. I was a Lifeguard for a year and three months. I also taught swim lessons for a few months. I love anything that has to do with the water actually. I love to learn about first aid and I want to go into a medical profession when I am older. I love to read and write and spend time with my family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have lived the teachings of the church all my life. My parents and family members and also church leaders have helped me to develop a testimony as I grew older, but when I was about sixteen years old, I started to learn about the gospel from my own point of view and I realized that this is the church that I wanted to be a member of forever. The Book of Mormon, which teaches us about the fulness of Jesus Christ's gospel, is a very pivotal item that helped me to develop the rest of my testimony. I was reading chapter 10 in the Book of Moroni which is the last chapter in the whole Book of Mormon and the last book in The Book of Mormon and it says in verses 4 and 5, verse 4 " And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost." Verse 5 " And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things." I took this scripture to heart and after I read The Book of Mormon, I prayed to God and asked if The Book of Mormon is true. Immediately after I ended my prayer, I felt the Holy Ghost tell me that The Book of Mormon is true. I have a testimony that The Book of Mormon is true and it has helped me to get through life's tough moments and I have learned so much about life from reading The Book of Mormon and it is a gigantic part of why I am serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I want others to learn about The Book of Mormon and I want others to read it and I want to share the gospel with the people of the world so they can have true happiness and so they can have the gospel in their lives. I love being Mormon!

How I live my faith

Right now I am a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. (The Mormon's). I teach people about what our church believes all day and everyday for two years.
