Hi I'm Cassie Strate

I'm a student, nanny, and 'wannabe' pioneer. I love frozen yogurt, puzzles, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a creative, accepting college student who loves balancing time between friends and family. While I love playing sports here and there, I love supporting my brothers in their athletics even more! Growing up in Colorado, I have grown to enjoy the outdoors whether it is gardening, hiking, or camping. I'm not afraid to be goofy sometimes, and I try to stay as optimistic as possible. I want more than anything to be a mom one day, and I try to focus on things in life that would benefit a future family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because the Gospel of Jesus Christ offers me great comfort, joy, and reassurance in a world that can be harsh and judgmental. This comfort comes in knowing that I am a loved daughter of God that has worth and purpose. This joy comes in knowing that I can live with my family for eternity. This reassurance comes as I read counsel from prophets in the Book of Mormon as well as listen to a living prophet today. I choose to follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ because I know that we are all great in the eyes of God.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by being a good example to everybody I come in contact with. I don't want to live my beliefs on just a day or two of the week, but through every second of my life. Right now, I am preparing to serve as a full time missionary in Pennsylvania for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. What better way to live what you believe than to dedicate a couple years of your life teaching others about what I am so passionate about, and serving my loving Heavenly Father.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Cassie Strate
I think there is a simple answer. Read the Book of Mormon. A promise found in Moroni 10:3-5 explains how we can ask God if these things are true. The Holy Ghost can manifest the truth through our hearts and minds. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith" (Gal 5:22). Pay attention to your feelings as you read the Book of Mormon and search to know if its teachings are correct. If you find the Book of Mormon to be a book of truth from God, then that means Joseph Smith, the man that translated the Book of Mormon, was indeed a prophet. If Joseph Smith is a prophet, then the Gospel of Jesus Christ was once again established on the earth, and further truth can be found within Mormonism. I can testify that Joseph Smith was indeed a prophet called by God, the Gospel has been restored, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the Lord's church on the earth today. You can know this for yourself if you start by picking up The Book of Mormon! Show more Show less

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

Cassie Strate
Just like in any other situation, we love the sinner, but hate the sin. We all have been given temptations in life, but we learn the importance of resisting temptation. It is the same with homosexuality. Homosexual behavior violates the Law of Chastity, and as with anybody that violates this commandment, we do not condone or support this serious sin. It is plain and simple. It is a commandment from God. We are all sons and daughters of a Heavenly Father that has taught us to love one another. We love and welcome anybody and everybody into our Church. "...and he inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female" (2 Ne 26:33) Again let me emphasize that it is the sin of homosexuality that we do not support, however we will always love another child of God.
