Hi I'm Melissa

I love to sing, tap-dance, and study history. I have seven siblings and I can drive a 12-passenger van. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love learning new things. I have worked at two different ice cream shops and refereed soccer games. One time I worked on an oilfield. I studied American Studies in college and I love how learning from all the different disciplines--history, literature, humanities, economics, political science, music--can help to make a more complete picture of the United States. I also take tap dance, just for fun.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because living the standards of the LDS Church make me happy. I love the assurance that the gospel brings to my life. I feel like I have a purpose in this world and that I can become a better person through relying on Christ.

How I live my faith

I have organized several activities for my church groups, in groups and on my own. I also auditioned and worked as a volunteer performer at LDS historical sites in Nauvoo, Illinois for four months. This was extremely physically demanding, as we performed from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. for six days a week, but I loved every minute. My favorite part was seeing the parents who brought their young children to Nauvoo to try to help them to catch a vision of the rich and beautiful heritage of the LDS Church. One of our main programs there taught young children of their divine worth and potential--that each and every one of them is "a very important person." Any time I spend serving in my church is never a waste.
