Hi I'm Matt

My parents got divorced when I was younger and only relying on our Savior Jesus Christ did I remain strong. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I have two wonderful parents. Unfortunately, they are no longer with each other. My Dad walked out of my family when I was thirteen and didn't walk back into my life until I was nineteen years old. During those years I was searching for a reason why he wasn't there, and a way to fill the whole that a father should fill in everyone's life. I got into some seriously bad stuff and it took me a long time to realize that the stuff I was doing was a bad thing and that I needed to change. I missed out on a bunch of things because of my addictions and my unwillingness to change. It hurt me both spiritually and mentally. I struggled through high school making friends and fitting in with everyone who I liked to hang out with once I did make friends. My greatest friends, it seemed, and proved true, were the ones I had in the church. I've been through a lot, and all of it has been a great strength to me in one way or another, even though it didn't seem like it at the time.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I've never felt something so true as when I read the Book of Mormon, or when I attend Church there. There is a great deal of knowledge and truth in the World, but it is near impossible to know what is truth and what is not truth without some other guide in this world to help you out, and I know that you can learn everything that is important to you by learning what this church is about. Once you learn the gospel, all of your own personal questions just fall into place. You just know all of a sudden what kind of parent you want to be, or what you want to be when you grow up, or anything else that is important to you. I am a Mormon because the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has given me the truth that I need to survive in this world and cherish the world to come. I am a Mormon because this world is not easy, but through the Gospel of Jesus Christ that is taught in this, his true church, it becomes not only possible, but easier for all those who enter and accept his blessings. I am a Mormon because I am not strong. I am a Mormon because Jesus Christ has made it possible for me to return to live with my Heavenly Father again, and he says that through him all things are possible. I am a Mormon because I know that this church is true, and I hope that all who have the desire, will find what they are looking for, whether it be the truth or just a simple question to a difficult problem. I know that this is the one true church on the earth today, and that the Holy Priesthood, which was given to Adam, Noah, Abraham, Israel, and all the other great prophets in the Old Testament, has been restored again to this Earth.

How I live my faith

I have been a part of the young men since I was 12 and have learned and grew from all of my experiences there. I've been in Presidencies made of young men since I was 13. I was in Boy Scouts and helped out with many Eagle Projects, but never had the drive to get my own Eagle Scout rank. When I graduated from High School I got called into other presidencies and it seems that is where I am meant to be. I don't know why I end up with all the responsibilities but I'm grateful for all of them. It's not the easiest thing, many times I've had to give lessons on the spot and it has truly helped me talk on my feet. I have not figured out how all the skills that living my faith has taught me will help me yet, but I know that someday all the skills that I have acquired will pay off soon. Now I spend my time preparing to serve the Lord as a Missionary in Ogden Utah. I feel truly blessed to be called to such a great area and I look forward to it with every passing day.
