Hi I'm Rachel

I grew up in California and have been a member of the church my whole life. I am a stay-at-home mom with 5 children.

About Me

I have played sports my whole life. I love soccer, basketball and most anything competitive. Even a fun board game with friends. I met my husband when we were freshman in high school. He joined the church that year and we have been best friends ever since. I went to college at the University of Arizona. I love to try new recipes, make crafts with my handy-dandy glue gun and watch movies. I also teach piano lessons to all different age groups.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it is the only church on the earth today that is correctly organized like Christ's church. It has the power of the priesthood to provide us with power from God. Through this power I have been able to be baptized as a member of Christ's church and married through God's sealing powers through eternity in his Temples. I am a Mormon because it makes my life have meaning, it brings me happiness and provides me with a path back to my Father in Heaven that is clear. By gaining a testimony of the truthfulness of this gospel through prayer and reading the scriptures I know for a surety that by following the Gospel by being a member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and partaking in the ordinances I can have an eternal life that will be sealed to me forever. By knowing these rules and following them, it has made my life easier. I have no temptation because my conviction is strong and based on my testimony. Because I have strive to control my natural desires by heading the commandments I am free. Free to make my own choices and not governed by outside influences, like the urges and desires that come from being addicted to coffee, tea, smoking, drugs, wine, etc. Being a Mormon makes me happy. With that happiness and freedom I can be a good neighbor, a helpful friend and a dedicated wife & mother. Being a Mormon gives me strength and peace to know that I am a child of God.

How I live my faith

I have worked in all different areas of the church. I was a president of the Young Women organization for girls 12-18. Recently I spent time working with the Primary age children (18mon-12yr) teaching them, playing music for them and leading them as a counselor in the presidency. Currently I am a counselor in a presidency for women 18 and up. We help the women in our church through love, service, companionship, friendship, hard work and faith in Christ.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Rachel
A testimony is having the knowledge that something is true through the promptings of the Holy Ghost. These promptings can be feelings of warmth, a thought in your mind, tingles on your skin. Through prayer, scripture reading and pondering on the gospel of Jesus Christ we can ask our Father in Heaven to know the truth of anything. To know which church is true, to know of Christ will come again to earth, to know if we should be baptized, pay tithing, get married in the temple....anything. By doing this we can build and strengthen a testimony little by little. Show more Show less
