Hi I'm Brooke

I am from Salt Lake City, Utah. I have lived in Russia, Ukraine and Canada. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up loving and having a passion for sports. I have played on many teams with many kinds of people and cherish friendships from them. I have been fortunate in my traveling experiences and the people and memories I have are priceless. I just moved to D.C. area to have more opportunities to meet new people and work in an exciting environment. It was a hard decision to leave a place of comfort, but one that I knew would be great for me in the future.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church but not all of my immediate family is still active. There came a point in my teens, when I realized that I needed to find out for myself, because I wanted to, if this was true. If Joseph Smith was a prophet called directly from God. If Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. When I knelt to pray about these things, the feeling of warmth, peace, love and joy overwhelmed me. I love hearing peoples conversion stories, and every time I do, I am touched and my testimony strengthened of how God and Jesus Christ know each of us individually. The blessings I get from living this Gospel are great. Moving here was scary, but knowing I would have an immediate support system with the members of the church here, really put me at ease, and it has been great. I am still learning, day by day, about the sacrifice of the Jesus Christ and His Atonement and how it affects every aspect of my life, and how it is the single most important event to ever happen on this Earth. If I could leave any message it would be this. Jesus Christ is the center of my religion, and as such, I strive to make him the center of my life. This isn't just a "go to church on Sunday" thing and call it good. This is a "day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute" thing where I am constantly learning how to live as the Savior lived. I am grateful for the fullness of Christ's church restored to the Earth with all of the appropriate priesthood authority and continuing revelation, and I pray that I reflect these things by how I am living my life.

How I live my faith

My faith is everything to me. It gives me comfort in trying times, peace during heartache, and strength when I feel week. Coming out here on my own was terrifying, but the fact was, I knew I am supposed to be here, and with my experience in the past of following promptings, it will work out greater than I could have imagined. Through callings and responsibilities I have had in the church, I have been able to focus on things I have a passion for, from athletics, to serving people directly, to talking and meeting with people and learning from them. Having been to several places in the world, it comes as great comfort knowing there are people there who believe what I believe, and without knowing each other, be willing to help in whatever way we can.
