Hi I'm jessie B

I am the second of nine children. I love constant silliness and singing. I have blue eyes and curly hair. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have six sisters, two brothers and am 21 years old. I am currently serving as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In high school I did tons of extra-curricular activities such as SCA, Junior Civitans, Relay for Life, The International Thespian Honor Society, NHS, FCA, MUN, and more--for many of which I was a club leader or officer. I also was into choir and I ranked number one for my voice part for the VMEA Senior Honors Choir in 2009 for the state of VA. I also tended to rank highly for county and district events. I have worked for Prince William County a total of six years, some of my jobs have been: Pool Operator, Lifeguard, Camp Counselor, and First Aid/ CPR Instructor. I attended NOVA. I miss lifeguarding in summer--the tan. I love Harry Potter beyond reasoning. If you ask me for a duel, I'll play you in Magic or Pokémon. I love all Disney of course, but I have a special thing for Winnie the Pooh and his friends. To me, pluto is a planet. I love playing basketball and volleyball. I love ice cream and Ritas! :D I hate to pick favorites of things like colors or foods or flowers. I just love all of everything too much. Although I have decided I'll say my favorite animal is the sloth bear. I also tend towards peanut M&Ms, then pretzel ones. I really love institute.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member of this church, however I did not always want to be a part of it. I was struggling with many things in high school and I was not very interested. In fact, I hated Sunday worship and I quit Seminary attendance. Because the Lord knows me so perfectly, He knew how to get my attention and began to guide me towards a better future. Sometimes it may be hard to live the standards and teachings of the gospel, but I know what is infinitely harder--trying to live without them. If I keep the commandments, my covenants, and always strive to do what is right, I know I will be blessed. The Spirit can bless and enhance our lives in miraculous ways. Something I have come to learn is to trust in the Lord. On occasion, I have been led to a place and felt lost, confused, alone, scared, and hopeless. I have come to realize that if I move forward with faith, Christ will help it all work out. He will not leave me hanging dry as I strive to do what is right. I know God has spoken to me in my life, perhaps not face-to-face, but in other ways. He has spoken through other people, through tender mercies, and through his word. He will reveal truth to us if that is what we seek. The Holy Ghost is able to light our paths and give us knowledge. By the power of the Holy Ghost, we really can know the truth of all things. I have prayed and received answers to my prayers. I know that the Holy Ghost has manifested to me the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I love this gospel.

How I live my faith

Right now for my congregation I am the Humanitarian Aid Specialist for our Relief Society, which is a women's organization. I also am the class President for our institute class, which is like a Bible Study class for young adults. I make an effort to visit a few women that I go to church with as well. I am their Visiting Teacher. I go to their home, or wherever is convenient, and talk to them about their lives, share a message, and see if there is anything I can do to serve them. I do my best to keep in contact with the different young singles that live in the Northern VA area and encourage them to come to church or activities. I really do strive to always help someone if they need it. I attend three classes on weeknights that are called Institute classes, essentially a 'mormon Bible study'. I also attend a course called "Launching Leaders". I have completed it, but I attend in locations other than my home stake. I also love my church meetings and attend on time every Sunday. Punctuality to all my meetings and classes is quite important to me. I love church and getting to attend on Sunday is one of the greatest blessings I have in my life. I read my scriptures and pray daily. I am a full tithe payer. I do my best to be an example for others as a disciple of Jesus Christ. I love everyone and I hope that by my actions, they can know of the love our Savior has for them.
