Hi I'm Lauren

I am a a college student and a writer working on completing my first novel. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love writing and dancing. I am an English major, but I have always loved science and psychology. I love to learn about other people and hear their stories. I have volunteered to help teach art at a local elementary school. I am not a parent, but I helped my parents raise my younger sisters. I love carpentry and right now I am learning all about how to build sets for my school's theater productions.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both Mormon, so I was always raised in a house with those beliefs. When I was a teenager I started to wonder though if perhaps there was something else out there that I had been missing because I had never explored any other belief. I talked to friends of mine from other faiths about their beliefs and I attended the meetings of several other churches. I studied religions from around the world, but at the end of the day no other church filled me with the same sense of peace that I felt when I heard my mother pray or my father give me a blessing. I never felt the same sense of absolute certainty that I was in the right place at the right time as I did when praying alone in the mountains in the middle of a church sponsored camp for young woman. That is how I knew this was the church for me and the place where I truly belonged.

How I live my faith

I try to wake everyday as a person that is just a little bit better than the one I was yesterday. I try to find new ways to help those around me, new opportunities to share my talents, or just to grew closer to my God. I have worked extensively with the youth in my hometown in California and tutored neighborhood children who were struggling with their school work. Above all I strive to look for the wonderful things about each person I meet, so that I may hopefully begin to see a glimpse of the bright souls that their father in Heaven sees.
