Hi I'm Janelle

I am blessed! I feel God's love. Jesus is the Christ and helps me daily. I am a wife, teacher, daughter, friend, and a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up in a loving family, with parents who have always looked out for me and my many health challenges. When I broke my femur at 6-- they endured hospital visits to see me while taking care of 4 other busy children! When I got diabetes at age 12, they learned all they could to help care for me then, too. My siblings have been there for me too, along with supportive friends and neighbors. The greatest thing I have been taught is to rely on my faith in Jesus Christ. I know that "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Philippians) After serving a full-time mission to New England, traveling to Israel and Church History site, and teaching elementary for 10 years, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I learned that the vision in my right eye was becoming blurry due to the tumor wrapping around my carotid artery and optic nerve. The amazing surgeon tried to save my vision, but after surgery, I have only been able to see out of one eye. Gratefully, we saw miracles as my eye began to open & track-- but not to see. Another miracle occurred: 3 months after surgery I found the love of my life, who doesn't see my eye as half-closed, but sees the person I am. He has been there for me as I've endured other subsequent challenges. Heavenly Father sent him as an incredible angel in my life. We love to serve and "pay forward" all the tremendous help that others have shown to us. The Savior's love is the greatest characteristic shown. I know he lives!!

Why I am a Mormon

I read the Book of Mormon when I was 12, a little day by day, until I finished. I knew before I was through the book that it was true because of the way I felt. I always felt peace, assurance of the Lord's love, and a special goodness from the pages of this ancient record. I knew that this book was translated by the inspiration of God. It was just a few months after finishing the Book of Mormon that I was diagnosed with diabetes. The calmness and love I felt from my Heavenly Father gave me strength. I knew that strength came from developing my own witness of the truth. My parents taught me eternal truths from the time I was little, but gaining this assurance for myself has enabled me to continue in faith to make righteous choices for myself that lead to TRUE joy and happiness.

How I live my faith

I love to serve the women and children in our church. Right now I am serving as "Compassionate service leader" in the women's organization, the largest organization for women in the world. I have opportunities to identify needs of women in our community and organize efforts to assist them when they are in need. Also, I volunteer to play the organ or the piano in our Sunday meetings. I also love to help teach the children of all ages as we meet together. Most of all, I enjoy the association with other people who exemplify faith in Jesus Christ.
