Hi I'm Jose Valdez

Born in Los Angeles to non-member parents, I am now a proud member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

About Me

I am currently working as a Funeral Director Apprentice, attended school for a while, but now taking a break from school in preparation to serve a full time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day-Saints. I really enjoy to go out and play sports, ultimate frisbee, soccer, volley ball, baseball, football, etc. You name it, I'll play it. Other things that I enjoy very much is building rapport with my already made friends, and also going out to make new friends. I love serving in my ward, either it be fulfilling my church calling, home teaching, or even just visiting with the other members. I attend Institute of religion classes regularly, and have served in the institute committees. Ultimately what I love most is helping others find happiness.

Why I am a Mormon

The best way that I can answer this is by sharing what a good friend of mine once told me when I was approaching my baptismal day. She said and I quote "Jose, you're not 'just' becoming a Mormon, you have always been one. Because being a Mormon is more than just a religion, it is a life style choice. Being baptized is just the beginning process to an everlasting life of happiness." So why am I a Mormon? Because I have always been one, I just didn't know it. This church has brought so much happiness into my life, so many blessings! It has allowed me to make sense of all my questions about my work and purpose on this earth. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day-Saints.

How I live my faith

I attend a family ward, which means I go to church with all of the old timers. But don't get me wrong, I love these guys, which is why I attend a family ward. Going to church and serving with people of their caliber has been the best thing that could have happened to me, specially being a one year convert to the church. I have learned and adopted some very strong, hard working and serving principles, that I don't think I would have picked up any where else. In my ward I now am serving my church calling as a Gospel Principles Teacher. I get to teach during the Sunday School hour, every other Sunday. For my Home Teaching, me and my Home Teaching companion try to do our Home Teaching by the second week end of the month, that way if anything comes up and we can't get them done all in that weekend we still have plenty of time to get it done. The families I serve I have grown to love them very much. Each family with their own unique way of living their faith, but ultimately all serving and having faith together. I also read from the Book of Mormon, and try to better understand what the scriptures teach me. My faith grows by serving those I love, and my love for them grows when I serve in Faith.
