Hi I'm Tonya

I am passionate about family time, homemade food, and flower gardens. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My joy is found in family. I do mounds of laundry, loads of dishes, and oodles of chores. I shuttle my children to and from their activities. In the evenings, we gather as a family around the table and discuss our day over a homecooked meal. I help my kids with a newspaper route, spending more than they make on gasoline and icecream cones, so they can learn to work. I treasure family fun time daily we play a game, hike a trail, or have a tickle fight. I love to sleuth through dusty old records to find clues about my heritage. Our front room wall showcases our family in photos back many generations. We have family roots in ten countries. I want my kids to know who they are and whose they are.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, because I believe in Jesus Christ. I know He lived and died for me. I understand that the Church he established in the meridan of time lost authority when the apostles were killed. I know God called Joseph Smith to restore His church in our day. Because I love God, I am willing to do what is required so I can return to live with him. I do not see the commandments and covenants as restricitve, but as standards keeping me on the path home to Father in Heaven. The truth that I can be with my family forever helps me press forward when life is tough.

How I live my faith

I spend time everyday reading and pondering God's word. I feel like the prophets in the scriptures are dear friends. I can deal best with the trials of life with an eternal perspective. Daily study helps me stay rooted in what's really important here on earth. I can better remember Jesus Christ and be more grateful for His grace in my life. This allows me more energy to try and serve like He did. I can view earthlife as a journey, a school of sorts. I can see the challenges as difficult assignments or pop quizzes. I rely also on prayer, revelation and a living prophet to guide me. I know God the Father loves us and is personally interested in my success here. I give back to God by serving those around me day in and day out: my husband, my children, our parents and grandparents, my neighbors, my kids school class and as an assistant scoutmaster for the Boys Scouts of America.
