Hi I'm Hiram Olinger

I grew up in South West Kansas. I played sports and worked at a grocery store. I am a Mormon..

About Me

I went to a small high school out in Southwest Kansas. Growing up in a great little community helped me to be able to develop who I am. I played a wide variety of sports such as Basketball, baseball, football, cross country, golf, even did a some track. I am the middle child out of 7. I worked for just short of 5 years at a grocery store starting at the time I was 14. These things prepared me for where I am now. I am now out serving a full time mission in The Ohio Columbus Mission which soon will split and I will be in the Ohio Cincinnati Mission. I love being around the people here. There is nothing better then seeing how living the Gospel helps bring people together.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church. Growing up in it doesn't always mean that you have a super strong testimony. I had to do the things that everyone has to do to learn for themselves. I had to learn the teachings and read the Book of Mormon and pray about it and learn to recognize the spirit. I know that as people do this they can recieve a witness for themselves. That is for anyone. You can come to know by doing those things. The Gospel has also brought many blessings to me and my family and you find the greatest joy as you live it. I have seen the strength that it brought my family and those around me. It really does bring people together. There is no better assurance than to know that my family can be together forever.

How I live my faith

I grew up in a small Branch in Kansas. I loved to try and help the other young men to have someone they could talk to. Through this I had the opportunities to make great friendships. I would get to teach lessons in Young Mens about once every month. Now I help people by serving a mission and giving them someone they can talk to about the Gospel and help them change their lives for the better. I also strive my best every day to do the things needed to keep my faith such as read the scriptures and pray. The Gospel is so much more than things that you can't do, but by keeping the commandments it keeps you free from the guilt and addictions that rule peoples lives. The Gospel is the things that you can do to help make your life better and keep you from feelings of guilt and pain.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Hiram Olinger
Since the beginning people have been asked to pay Tithing. Abraham and Jacob both are mentioned to have paid tithing. Tithing helps us to keep our focus on what really matters and see where our heart is. Tithing is used to help the Lord's work to move forward. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

Hiram Olinger
The Priesthood is the Authority that our Heavenly Father has given us to act in his name. When you have the Priesthood you need to do the things necessary to be able to use it. You must do your very best to follow the example that Christ set. All things done through the Priesthood needs be done by the will of God. Show more Show less
