Hi I'm Oliver

From Berkshire, England. I'm a student and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm from a family of six, with half my family currently living in the UK and the other half living over 10,000 miles away in Australia! I'm currently studying a business degree at university in England, and as a result living away from home. Outside of my church and university life I love sports and amateur dramatics, although not at the same time!

Why I am a Mormon

Despite being raised by my loving parents as a Mormon, that's not why I am still a member today. There has to come a point when you decide for yourself. I had let myself become caught up in the flow of church life but was presented with a major choice when I started my university education, as I moved in to living quarters with people from outside of church. Suddenly I was now the one in the house who set the standards of not only when I went to bed and what I ate etc. but also what I did with my spare time and the moral standards I would live up to. Through prayer to my Heavenly Father i asked for both help and guidence and the power of The Holy Ghost confirmed to me that the things i had been taught were true and I could not deny my belief in them. By living the commandments of Jesus Christ I believe that I have had a happier life than what I could have chosen, and that this truely is the way that he wants me to live. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints really is His church, and through prayer and living His commandments we can all know this for ourselves.

How I live my faith

An important part of becoming Christ-like is learning to give meaningful service and to love everyone. I do this at church by actively going and visiting members in their homes, to help teach to them principles of The Gospel, and help them with any problems that they may suffer from. Sometimes its hard to feel that you have the time to visit people, with work and education commitments and an obvious want for recreational time. By overcoming these feelings and understanding who I represent though I know I can bless the lives of others and recieve blessings myself. Often I feel it a priviledge to be able to serve others in this way, especially when it is someone who sincerely appreciates the help that is offered.
