Hi I'm Courtney

I love music, cars, the Russian language, and I am a Mormon

About Me

I am a full time missioary in the Kyiv Ukraine mission. My family is back home and holding down the fort in Utah. Other than my mother and father I have a younger brother, and 2 younger sisters. And all three just keep getting older and cooler. Some of my favorite memories are of spending time with my family mainly close to home. My parents are such great examples to me. I really don't know where I would be without the family that I have. I love music. I play the clarinet, the saxophone, and love to sing. In high school I loved being in Jazz band and marching band. Music is my release and how I relax and just let all my stress go. I love to just sing to myself as I do things around the house. Without music I don't know what I would do. I also love cars, and motorcycles, and just about anything with an engine and wheels, I have my own that I take good care of. Driving around up in the mountains and looking at all the creations of God is one of my favorite activities. I also love just getting down and in the grease working on cars. My car hasn't really been just a breeze, we (meaning my dad and I) have done a lot of work but it definitely pays of. I also am going to college and am looking at becoming an international businessman, tough I know but it's what I want to do.

Why I am a Mormon

That happiness, that real happiness is why I am a Mormon. After I left home to study at Utah State University I had a really hard time, I had before that time relied heavially on the testimonies of those around me and really never worried about having that change of heart. But while I was studying life got really hard, and not just because of exams. I had to find my own way. And I honestly tettered on the edge and almost fell away. But as I looked at myself, I wasn't happy, I just wanted to be happy. So I honestly asked, sincerely asked for help from the Lord for help to fix my life, to find happiness. And now it didn't all happen at once. It was definitely a process. Friends who I thought were lost from me came to my rescue and helped me put band-aids on my hurts. They picked me up and helped me see the light. I know that they were the help that I asked for. My family as that have been always was there for me as well. The example of my father shone brightly in the darkness. As the change of heart happened, as I began to let Christ into my life, I became happy, and I know without a doubt that it is true. I don't know where I would be without it. And that is why I am a mormon. Because I know.

How I live my faith

Well growing up in the church has made faith in Christ just a part of my life. I really enjoy serving other people and showing them what my faith has helped me to become. Really just showing forth charity to all of our bothers and sisters is where that service comes from in my life. This biggest thing that I do right now to show my faith is serving as a full time proselyting missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Ukraine. What we do everyday is help people strengthen their faith in Christ and learn how to apply his Atonement in their lives. This is the greatest opportunity I have ever had in my life to strengthen not only other people but also myself. The road here was not as easy one but definitely worth it. The one thing that I love more than anything else is helping others be happy, when those around me are happy, I am happy. That is the best part about serving as a missionary, helping others find real happiness.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Mormon missionaries, like me, proselyte because that light, the light that Christ brings into our lives just cannot be contained in oneself. We desire to share that light with everyone. Knowing that it will bless their lives as it has blessed ours and help them find happiness and prepare for what will be after this life. This answer is simple but if you found the fountain of all happiness, the fountain of life, wouldn't you want to share that with others? Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Being a missionary I have the wonderful opportunity to share the wonderful message that we have with many people, which message is centered on Jesus Christ and how through His Atonement and His gospel we can all return to live with our Father in Heaven again. This is a wonderful message of light that has changed so many lives. I have seen it so many times. It is such a sacred moment when someone changed their life for the better. This message will change your life for the better, you will have an increase of light and hope in your life. As we follow the steps that are the Gospel of Christ namely, Faith in Christ and His Atonement, Repentance, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins, Receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. These steps are what the missionaries help the people they teach to do so that they can unlock the blessings of the Atonement of Christ in their lives. Show more Show less
