Hi I'm Lorna

I graduated from NAU with an M.Ed., I am a teacher, a counselor, a mother of five children and I am a mormon.

About Me

I enjoy running, reading, riding horses and being outdoors. I spend a lot of time with my kids, we learn together and have fun. Teaching and counseling have brought deep fulfillment to my life, I enjoy helping others reach their goals and to heal. Growing up I had many challenges, poverty, sickness, and loss. These experiences have made me strong and capable of overcoming adversity; they have also helped me to empathize and understand people and their struggles.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up was difficult in my life, and very confusing. I attended many different churches and struggled to find what my purpose here on Earth was. I had very little direction from my parents and had to find my own way. During my college years I continued to search and find a way to fill the emptiness inside that I felt from many years of solitude. I thought I could fill that void with things around me, people and adventures and parties. However, that void only increased. When I finally embraced the gospel and began to feel of God's Holy Spirit I then felt that void being filled and overflowing. This Gospel of Jesus Christ is what brings that joy to my life and allows me to know that through Him, I can receive eternal life with God.

How I live my faith

I prepare a lesson for the youth ages 12-18, their energy is amazing and their faith in God is truly outstanding. Each day our family studies the scriptures, we learn Bible stories and stories from the Book of Mormon. In each of these books, we find ways to live our lives in alignment with the teachings of Jesus Christ. We are not perfect, however, we make mistakes and we have to continually examine the actions we need to adjust and then work hard to become more like Him. I enjoy visiting the families that live near our home, encouraging them to also build a personal relationship with Christ and to come to church on Sunday to share of their strength and testimony with others. I also enjoy my calling in church as a Teacher, where I get the privilege to instruct the women and the youth in gospel principles.
