Hi I'm DaNece

I'm from North Carolina. I play the violin and love anything Disney. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student at Brigham Young University majoring in violin performance. I come from a family of six kids and we are all very musical. I enjoy dancing, watching movies, and cooking delicious foods. I spent the summer of 2011 working at Disney World, which would probably explain why I am a complete Disney fanatic. I have recently been called to serve as a missionary in the Italy Milan mission. I am so excited to be there for a year and a half preaching the gospel and meeting wonderful new people.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized into this church when I was eight years old and have grown up in the church my entire life. Throughout my childhood I maintained the attitude that this gospel is true and that it can be a great benefit in my life. I always had the resolve to remain an active member of the church throughout my life and to live the way I saw my parents and other faithful members lived. I have always had a love for the gospel and a desire to follow its teachings and live the standards set by our latter-day prophet. Every step in my journey of gaining a testimony has been gradual, and I feel very blessed to have been brought up in an environment where that testimony was well nurtured. Having lived on my own for a few years now, I have relied on the gospel even more for crucial life decisions, as well as simple, every day dilemmas. Countless manifestations have been given to me of God's hand in my life as I have continued to center my life around His teachings. I know that it is a true work and want to bring others to a knowledge of this as well. It is the true church in this latter day with Jesus Christ at the head. My greatest desire is to follow in His teachings and receive the beautiful blessings that are available through my worthiness and His grace.

How I live my faith

I have served in the church through responsibilities such as playing piano for church meetings and helping to organize church activities. I am currently serving as a missionary for the church in Milan, Italy for a time period of a year and a half.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

DaNece
One of the greatest testimonies of God's existence is the nature that surrounds us; the billions of stars in the night sky, trees, flowers, huge, majestic rock formations, the miracle of life. All these things have been given scientific reasoning, but the spirit that comes from the profound intricacy of it all demands no other explanation than that of a supreme creator. Even more amazing is that He is there to guide and direct us in our individual lives and that the beauty of creation is meant for our happiness. Another way I know there is a God is through the Book of Mormon. It is convincing evidence of God's hand in the lives of his children. He prepared it for our day through ancient prophets who were commanded by God to record His word. I know that Joseph Smith translated it through the power of the Holy Ghost and that through it we can partake of the fulness of the everlasting gospel. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

DaNece
The Lord has prepared a way for every individual to receive the blessings of baptism, whether living or dead. For those who have passed on, we have the opportunity and responsibility to perform their work for them here on the earth in the temple if they did not receive the gospel. They have the opportunity in the next life to accept or decline what we do in their behalf. Show more Show less
