Hi I'm Annie Romney

I grew up in Forks, WA. I am studying Civil Engineering at BYU, but I am on hold to serve a full time mission! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Forks, WA where it rains 12 feet on average per year. My Junior year in high school I moved to Idaho and graduated there. I love playing any sport there is. Sports I have officially played in high school include volleyball, soccer, tennis, track and field, and cross country! I also love basketball and I did ski club. My dad is from Canada and my family has a whole entire hockey set, and there's enough of us that we can play street hockey whenever we want. I love math! I love school in general, it's tough to pick a favorite topic. I play the piano and guitar, and the alto saxophone, and I did percussion ensemble for a couple years in high school. I can also play the ukulele if that counts. I love listening to classical music. I like to french braid and do other cool things with hair. My two little sisters are very patient hair models for me to play with. I love hiking and beautiful scenery, although I admit that growing up in a temperate rain forest by the ocean has made me a bit harder to please than some people. But I am learning how beautiful other types of landscapes can be, like the canyons and sprinklers in Idaho and the sheer mountain cliffs in Utah. I am currently serving a full time mission, spreading the good news abroad in Virginia and North Carolina (the Virginia Chesapeake mission.)

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Latter Day Saint home and grew up in a beautiful family with parents who loved each other and siblings that were best friends. In Washington, there weren't very many other kids who were LDS (about 5 in the high school, and three of them were from my family) so I often felt left out. But as I lived the standards and the truths that I was taught, I always felt the love of our Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ, and the guidance of the Holy Ghost. I slowly but surely gained a testimony of everything I had always been taught, and recognized the protection that I had had as a result of keeping the commandments and following the words of the prophets, ancient and latter day. I know for sure one thing. Living the gospel of Jesus Christ brings protection, happiness, and blessings without end. I know that Jesus Christ is my Redeemer, and ALL who come unto him can be saved. Jesus Christ died so that we can repent of our sins, become eventually perfected and return to live with our Father. Joseph Smith is a true prophet who saw God the Father and his son Jesus Christ, who guided him in the restoration of the gospel. Thomas S. Monson is a true prophet in our day. Families our forever and are sealed in the Temple. The Bible and the Book of Mormon are the word of God. We lived before this life and we will live after mortality.

How I live my faith

The best way I have found to live my faith is to be a living example of the things I know to be true. I know that living the standards makes you happy, so I dress modestly, use clean language, and follow the counsel of the prophets. I know that reading the scriptures brings the spirit into my life, so I study my scriptures daily. I think others can see that I am happy and can tell that I have something that is true. Now that I am on a mission, I am living my faith by sharing my knowledge of the gospel every day!
