Hi I'm Betty

I'm a mom, a grandma, a nurse, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in upstate New York, but have been a proud Texan for more than thirty years! I am a wife, a mother of five kids, and a "gammy" of five - almost six - grandkids!

Why I am a Mormon

I was four years old when my parents joined the church, but I can still remember vividly the first time we ever went to church. I think of that memory often and it because it has stayed so vivid in my mind throughout my entire life, I can't help but think that little four year old girl recognized something that day. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Every good thing in my life - every peace, every happiness, every joy is because I have the gospel! I am thankful for the knowledge that I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father and He loves me personally; that Jesus Christ is His son - our Savior and Redeemer. I know that Joseph Smith was called to restore the gospel to the earth in this dispensation and that we have a living prophet on the earth today. I am thankful for the Book of Mormon - it is an amazing and miraculous book, and amazing and miraculous things happen in your life and in your testimony when you read it!

How I live my faith

I am a home health nurse and while I hope I can bless the lives of my patients, I KNOW they bless my life! I have the opportunity to share what I believe almost daily and then on Sundays I play the piano, and teach children from three to eleven. I also teach once a month in our women's organization. These lessons come from the General Conference issue of the Ensign - a church published magazine.

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

I know that Jesus Christ is the son of God; our Savior and Redeemer; our brother; our friend; our advocate. He set the perfect example for me and I try every day to live my life as He lived His. I am humbly amazed by all that He did for me and continues to do for me. He is center of our religion and the center of my life. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Young men are strongly encouraged to serve a mission, young women and senior couples are supported in their choice to serve missions, but for all it is a personal decision. Our youngest son is serving a mission in the Philippines and I look forward to the day when my husband and I can serve a mission together. When I think of all that I know and understand, and the peace and happiness that knowledge and testimony give me - it makes me want to share what I have with everybody around me! Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

I know that Heavenly Father has a plan for each and every one of His children and that his ultimate goal is for us to return home to Him. The choices I make, the way I handle my trials, the way I live my life in general is influenced by my understanding that this life is just a moment in my eternal existence - a very important moment - but just a moment. I lived before I came here and I will live when I leave this life. It is a part of the eternal plan my Father in Heaven has for me. Show more Show less
