Hi I'm Julie

I grew up in Utah. Have lived in California all of my adult life. I'm a wife, mother and an accountant. I am a mormon.

About Me

I am the mom to 5 children in my wonderfully blended family. My husband had 3 boys and I had 1 when we got married and together we have our daughter. I work full time as an accountant for a large agriculture company. I love to run not only because it keeps me in shape but also because it gives me some time to get lost in my own thoughts. I run in many local 5k and 10k races and love the social part of running too. I love to read and my favorites are historical fiction and fantasy. When I'm really into a great book all else can wait untill I finish it.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church but stopped attending around the age of 18. I attended many different churches and always found good people in each of them but felt that something was missing. At the age of 29 I was a single parent doing the best I could when a knock on the door changed everything. I hadn't really given much thought to going back to church so when I opened the door and saw the two missionaries standing there I wasn't exactly thrilled. We chatted a moment and I told them that I was a member but wasn't attending. They a asked me to come to church on Sunday I said I would. I couldn't believe I said I would. I secretely hoped that I or my son would get sick so I wouldn't have to go. I could have just not gone but that would have been dishonest and I didn't want to be that. Sunday came and we were both healthy so we went. Just seconds into the building a wonderful woman stopped to introducee herself and ask about us. This ward was friendly and inviting so I kept coming. Finally I had to decide if this was really what I wanted to do. I either had to jump in with both feet or run for the hills. I knew in the Book of Mormon there is a promise that if a person sincerely want to know of the truthfullness of the gospel and will act on that knowledge then Heavenly Father through the Holy Ghost will answer your prayer. Over the next few feeks I read and prayed about the Book of Mormon asking Heavenly Father to tell me if it was true. One night after finishing and while I was on my knees praying I was overcome with a feeling of love. It was gentle yet enveloped me and I felt/heard my Heavenly Father tell me it was all thrue, that he loved me and that it was time to come back. That experience was hard to put into words but to this day I remember it and how it felt. I know this is God's church, that Jesus Christ is at the head of it. Jesus is my Savior and the atonement is the greatest gift I have ever received.

How I live my faith

I am the president of the women's group in the church and love serving them through ministering to them in times of need such as a birth or death in the family or a personal struggle. We not only serve each other but also the community through service projecst. We have made blankets for various organizations and newborn kits for local hospitals. We have made hygiene kits that have been sent to parts of the world where natural disasters have hit. I have also been a youth leader, a sunday teacher to the younger children and run the nursery on sundays for the 18 mon to 3 year old. Each way I have served has taught me something and helped me to bring Heavenly Fathers love to others.
